Q Tonic
There has been a surge of new gins on the market but what about the other half of the summer essential G&T? Now there is a new premium tonic water, Q Tonic. Q Tonic has no high fructose corn syrup and has 60% fewer calories than regular tonic water. The brand uses hand-picked quinine from the Peruvian Andes and is sweetened with organic agave. The tonic water has been launched in selected restaurants and retail outlets around the country and online. It generally costs around $10 for a pack of four bottles.[via Notes on a Party]

I tried this after a strong recommendation from that staff at the much respected Sam's Wines of Chicago. They had a promo dropping the price around $8 for the 4-pack.
As much as I wanted to enjoy it I simply could not. I tried it with a variety of high end and solid gin's (Tanqueray Rangpur Gin, Boodles, Bombay Sapphire Gin) and it simply not only does not add value it detracts from the classic G&T taste.
In a word - it's an gimick and overpriced at that. I'm sure some will swear by and further claim those who don't like it haven't the sophistcation etc.

I've been getting Q Tonic at Sam's ever since they started stocking it. I love it and will never go back. I can't imagine what else you are mixing with your gin? Standard tonic water overpowers a quality spirit with sticky sweet syrupy awfulness, while Q Tonic allows flavor and depth to shine through. On this one the "experts" are right... this is simply a much better drink.
