Earlier this week we
mentioned a yacht that President John F. Kennedy has used. Now the 62-foot Sparkman & Stephens yacht Manitou that he sailed while in office, is
for sale
for $1.95 million. The boat was built in Maryland in 1936 and Kennedy used it for both official and personal cruising. Kennedy sailed with both family and dignitaries on the vintage yawl. The yacht includes a fireplace and a single diesel engine. After Kennedy's assassination in 1963, the boat was sold to the Harry Lundeberg School of Seamanship. The boat underwent a renovation several years back. I'm sure this piece of American history won't be for sale for long.

S&S boats are usually wonderful. With or without a serious history like this one, I expect that it is a great handling boat.

Perhaps it is selling at the loss...maybe the owner needs to liquidate...or they are tired of tending to all of the wood and bright work.

Hey Fred,
I tried that link and all I found was "under construction" or "done with errors on page" after filling out the form...
