This Upper East Side carriage house is a skinny slice of NY life in seven pieces. The lower level is a separate suite with a bedroom, kitchen, bath, gym, storage, etc. The second level is the first floor that is open space which is currently an art gallery/three car garage, the next level has the family room and a bedroom suite, the level after that, the fourth, is the main family living space with the living room, dining room and kitchen. The fifth level includes two additional bedroom suites and the sixth level includes another bedroom suite with a fireplace and dressing room and the seventh level is the roof terrace. It sounds like life here would involve a lot of stair action but there is also an elevator. The home is currently filled with art that has displayed in every room of the house even the kitchen and bathroom. The vertical life will cost you $22.5 million.

I wish someone with design clout would finally make a statement about the stupidity employed in putting a big screen television over a fireplace. First you have the smoke to deal with--it will cover your screen and eventually work its way into the interior of the panel. Secondly, why do you want the tv image to compete with the fire image? Thirdly, it's just too high a place for the tv--you'll generally get neck strain from having to look up for so long. And finally, when not in use, the tv screen is just a black hole on what is usally a major wall in the home.
And this house is just too narrow for my likings. Outrageous price, but it is NYC.

Good point! I agree with the television problem. In older houses the fireplace is the natural focal point of a room but today the focal point is usually the television. The one above doesn't look as high as some I've seen which seem to require you to semi recline in order to watch the thing.
I also think that there should be some restraint in television size. It's one thing to have a large screen in great room or home theater room but quite another in a small room or den where it dominates the room and doesn't really provide a good viewing experience. Big is not always best.

That is a HUGE coffee machine in the bathroom. Unless you're having an AA meeting or shower orgy, you probably don't need that much coffee in the bathroom.

Henry, there is a samovar next to it, too (for serving tea). I think, the sauna and the bar shelf are close by.

The interior is wonderfully done. The furnitures and fittings complement well with the theme decor
