There's a $5,000 Burger in Las Vegas

The Fleur de Lys restaurant in Las Vegas at Mandalay Bay may serve French cuisine but that hasn't stopped them from adapting their own version of an American classic: the hamburger. Called the "Fleurburger 5000" it's no Plain Jane either, featuring a juicy Kobe beef patty topped with a rich truffle sauce and served on a brioche truffle bun. And this burger comes with its own beverage, a bottle of 1990 Chateau Petrus, that is served in Ichendorf Brunello stemware that you get to keep.
It sounds (and looks) delicious -- as well it should for the whopping price tag of $5000. And if you do decide to indulge no worries about bragging rights: you can bring a friend (they get a free burger when you order yours) and you'll also get a certificate in the mail (along with your keepsake glass) so you'll have both a witness and paper proof.

This trend of "$### burgers/cake/etc......with some pricey unrelated trinket/jewlery/beverage" is getting pretty lame. It's one thing to use a bunch of pricey ingredients like foie, truffles, wagyu, etc. in a dish, but c'mon. McD's could serve a "$10000 BigMac w/fries and a coke", by including a $9995 bejeweled goblet.
I suppose one could argue it'd be a $5000 meal, being that wine can be integral to a meal, but nobody (at least in media/blogs/etc) refers to it as a "$5000 meal"
BTW a 1990 Chateau Petrus costs about....

No burger is worth more then 8 bucks........with all the fixn's and a cold one................america is whacked to pay for any food worth 5k

Seriously, I hope that anyone that wastes $5000. on a burger dies instantly from a coronary. Those wasteful people that live like pigs don't deserve to live when so many are dying from starvation.

no meal is worth 5,000....period.

Ya know, I'm not a real religious person, I'm not even particularly concerned with the welfare of the homeless, etc.
But when I read about something like this, all I can picture is standing in front of God on Judgement Day and him looking at that Certificate that proves I once paid $5K for a burger with extras and then asking me if I knew that men, women, and kids, went to bed with no food the night I did it.
I guess I wouldn't have much right to be surprised if he told me I wasn't welcome in his house.
crystal May 17th 2008 9:59PM
ya know...at that price i would have no right to complain about the bills if i can spend $5000 on a burger. that money would have so much more use in other areas in my life than in my stomach.
crystal May 17th 2008 10:01PM
i totally agree ken. i would have so much shame eating that knowing i could feed thousands more for thousands left. great way to put it into words!!!
Josh May 17th 2008 10:04PM
Oh please, now I know I couldn't eat something like that but that's mainly because I hate mushrooms and to me most all burgers taste the same.
But you know why people will spend $5,000 on a burger? It's because they can.
I get sick of people saying, "well there's people dying somewhere because they can't eat." well, sucks for them, but even if I gave the $5,000 to charity, I can guarantee you that same kid will go another day without food.
You only live once so if you want to play dumb with your money, guess what, it's your money, so go blow it.
And when the day comes that I'm standing at the pearly gates and they pull out the receipt for that burger. I'd pull out my certificate and compare notes.
Seriously, I don't have to worry about God's judgement, as there's no such being. Just a figment created in your imagination so that when something wrong in life happens, you can blame it on him. Or if someone gets cured of some sickness, it's a miracle of God, I'll believe that when someone regrows an amputated limb. heck, i just read even Einstein said the Bible is jiberish, wasn't he a genius?
Let's see, who else can I upset....

Einstein was bitter. His son was schizophrenic. He "needed" to not believe in God.He couldn't fathom why the all-powerful and good Creator would allow that to happen to his son.

THE BEST BURGERS AR AT LEHIGH PIZZA IN BETHLEHEM, PENNSYLVANIA.
susie May 17th 2008 10:42PM
That is the most stupid thing to pay 5,000 for hamburger I could take that kind of money and pay for my mortage, medical bill, anything other then a hamburger, it must be nice to have that kind of money to even think about buying it.
susie May 17th 2008 10:46PM
Josh, you had to bring God in the conversation, you don't have to worry you won't be at no pearly gate but when I'm there I will remember your stupid comment.
foutzcarson5 May 17th 2008 11:01PM
josh, while i respect your beliefs (or lack there of), i dont think its right for u or anyone else to be putting someone elses beliefs down. now why dont u go live ur life like the rest of those close minded idiots with no respect for the beliefs of others. and when the rest of us are looking down from heaven at u lost souls, i'll be able to say i told u so. and besides while we may not have too much proof for god, u cant exactly prove he doesnt exist, now can ya. ur just using atheism as an excuse so u can feel OK about the immoral and improper things ur doing while u live.

I just tried one, very good! Well worth the money.
Sultry May 17th 2008 11:01PM
People are out of their minds. I don't care if that burger had the Rock's phone number in it. It is really one insecure out of touch person that would pay that amount of money for nothing more then showing off. What a pityful lost soul they are.

if you can afford this then go for it and dont feel bad either
