The Bargain Neighborhoods, Delray Beach, FL, Estate of the Day

NeighborhoodScout.com has used their matching function to find neighborhoods that are "discount equivalents" of some of the hot and pricey communities we recently covered in our Most Expensive Zip Codes estates.
Today we are looking at a discount equivalent for pricey Palm Beach, Florida. The pick is Delray Beach, which is also in Palm Beach country. Palm Beach has a median price of $3.02 million but Delray Beach has a median price of just $1.3 million. Delray Beach doesn't have the tradition that Palm Beach does but it is a growing community with many restaurants and entertainment options. It is also a community where the prices are a little bit lower than Palm Beach, although the trend is definitely upward in this area.
Case in point, today's estate one of the new huge estates which are going up in the area. This one spans two deepwater lots on a prized corner. The home is similar to other extravagant homes in this area with an impressive foyer that includes a marble fountain, spiral staircase with iron railings and a huge chandelier. The 21,000-square-foot home has a very large master suite and five other bedroom suites. Other rooms include a media room and staff quarters. The exterior includes a summer kitchen, fireplace, pool and cabana. It's very expensive at $19.7 million but cheaper than the home we looked at in Palm Beach which was listed at $25.75 million and wasn't quite so over the top. Although that home is primely located right on the ocean. We also covered a home in Delray Beach previously that is quite a bit different, a slice of modern priced at just under $5 million.

Is it just me or do all of these South Florida mansions look alike on the inside?
Although this one does have the best looking bar/media room area to date.

It's just gaudy and schlocky, no real taste, just a lot of curvey lines and gold and marble. No restraint. Looks like someone wasted a lot of money furnishing this place. It's a shame so many homes in these areas are completely ripped apart when they are purchased--no one who can afford the homes, really wants to live in someone else's bad choices.

There is absolutely nothing "gaudy" or "schlocky" about this home. It shows elegance and grace throughout. Uncluttered and with a very quiet comfortable feeling. I think it's well designed, warm, inviting and very tasteful. BEAUTIFUL!
