Boston Bans Bottle Service

Most people see bottle service with VIP treatment at a hot club in a big city a special treat and a perk of being able to afford spendy bottles of booze. But one Boston official disagrees and is cracking down on the clubs that offer bottle service to their clients. His argument? That the price of the bottle causes patrons to feel they have to down the whole thing before the night is over which, consequently, steps on the toes of the "happy hour" law of a two-drink max per patron. Club owners and VIP's agree that it is an important part of high-end establishments. Personally, I've only seen people partake in bottle service -- and typically there are more than enough people at the table to help decrease individuals portions.

Ok folks, lets take a step back here. Nobody wants to hold back the God given rights of the obscenely wealthy to spend their money however they choose and be exclusive. You actually should have to have a password to read my messages.

Fine, the clubs should sell the bottles at cost and charge seperate admission for the VIP area. Still the same.

We had a rare night out in Toronto last weekend, and went to the VIP @ Century Room. Bottle service was good to us - two bottles of Veuve, a bottle of Jaegermeister, and about a gazillion Redbulls.
A good night was (Responsibly) enjoyed by all

happy hour" law of a two-drink max per ...what the heck ?
Are you going to limit the times I can go to restroom next ?
This is an example of government gone wild, it is no ones business what when or how much I drink.....strangely I do not drink but still I do not want gov. to tell me what, how much I can .

The real issue with bottle service is the fact you have a single spirit drink. Vodka &'s or Gin &'s. One who is accustomed to the finer things typically will want more didactic drinks. I can't remember the last time I had a bottle service that even had, vermouth, olives and juice for a decent martini. Usually its just Cran cocktail, OJ, Tonic, RedBull etc..
As for the end of the night slam factor, it is true.

This is insane... First of all people who are spending that kind of money on bottles don't care if they finish the bottle. We pay for the "experience" not the liquor. I've left lots of alcohol behind that cost me thousands for bottle service... When you're tired and the night's over you go home..

Everyone knows that the ladies bring a big enough purse to stash any leftover booze so you can finish it in the limo on the way to the after party. You don't try to down it all at the club.
Why would the good people of Boston let some Dooooshbag who could never get into a club anyway dictate what they can do with their hard earned dollar bill? I'm just glad I live in LA. If someone tried to do that here they would be tarred and feathered.
