America the Beautiful Fund's largest program is Operation Green Plant. Every year since 1980, Operation Green Plant collects about 40,000 pounds of surplus seed (vegetable, flower and herb) from major American seed companies and saves them from ending up in landfills. We then grant these seeds to community planting projects across the nation for good works accomplished through gardening. Our projects grow fresh food for the hungry, teach environmental stewardship and beautify America's neighborhoods. To get a grant of seeds for your community planting project, click on the Operation Green Plant page at www.freeseeds.us

Katie Rehwaldt
Program Director
Operation Green Plant

Katie Rehwaldt
