I'm surprised you didn't point out the fact that it LOOKS like a snake head. The shape of the purse, the lines in the center, the big brass "eyes". Interesting design.

Too bad it's real python, real animal skins are pretty tacky. In fact, the idea of spending thousands of dollars to wear a dead snake around my shoulder just seems rather gross, not to mention shallow if I knew how it was made.
Such a shame, it would have been a rocking bag if it was made of anything else.

Err ... why is wearing animal skin so terrible? Humans have been doing it for eons. If you have one hide bag, and use it for years, it's a smaller environmental impact that using and tossing half a dozen fake-leather purses. And straw purses don't really hold up well.
Not to say Gucci is a green company, but ....

Most snakeskin comes from the jungle, a not farm, which leads to the depletion of the rainforest. For your information, our ancestors did not use industrial hoses to fill the snakes up with water and skin them alive. After being skinned they are tossed in a trash heap where the can suffer for days before they die.
Furthermore, if you think that half a dozen fake leather purses being thrown away is worse than the suffering of one animal than either really stupid or a horrible person.
