Sir Hans Sloane Bespoke Chocolates

The Bespoke Chocolates service from Sir Hans Sloane is about so much more than just customizing a box of chocolates by ordering how many you want each of different available flavors -- they actually mix and make personalized chocolates just for you. As in no two patrons have the same formula.
My mouth is watering already.
The process starts with a series of interviews, followed by a series of tastings, and finally ending in the delivery of 60 chocolates made by master chocolatier Bill McCarrick in a handmade rosewood-and-maple inlaid box. Also included is a copy of the chocolate tasting consultations and a backup box of an additional 60 chocolates. YUM. $2400.

it really pisses me off that people waste their money on crap like this.
heatherenee1214 Mar 31st 2008 2:51PM
I think it should be noted that, though this box of chocolates may be expensive, they have many items that are much more affordable- in the same range as a lot of the nicer chocolate brands. And for a special treat, the other options on the site are probably worth it! Also, keep in mind, that for your $2400, you are getting a specially formulated mix, personalized for you or someone you love. And you get 120 chocolated (I am sure they would last quite a while!) I think it's kind of a cool idea- especailly if you have a love and true appreciation for chocolates. Though the price still seems a bit high.

remember that it is only a waste of money if you cannot afford it. for some people 2,400 is just pocket change.
JOE Mar 31st 2008 3:17PM
The candy is only $20.It's the gas to ship it to you that cost the rest. Dumb ass rich people got nothing better to do with their money. I will ship you a box of kisses for half that and they will taste the same...

I just wonder how many hungry people $2400 would feed or how much good you could do to provide a well for some African village, or better yet, how many children could be fed or books bought for them right here in this country. It's just simply a decadent waste. I know that to people with millions of dollars - it's no different than buying a Hershey bar - but coming from my background - I could never waste that much money on candy. Just couldn't do it.
sandman Mar 31st 2008 3:30PM
What’s the difference? $2,400.00 box of chocolates or a $5,000.00 tin of fish eggs (caviar)? They think their getting something special and if one can afford to throw that much money away for so little, than they probably didn’t make the money to begin with and have no real sense of worth?

If someone wants to spend the money they earned on something like this why would it matter to anyone. It is their money. Quit complaining people. There are more important things in this world than worrying about what someone you don't know spends their money on. Quit acting all high and mighty.
KARIN Mar 31st 2008 3:36PM
I couldn't imagine anyone spending that kind of money on chocolates, unless they had cocaine in them. As for you, heatherenee (#2), you must not be very good at math, because even with them being customized, it still adds up to $20 per PIECE. I don't think that I need to spend that much for a piece of chocolate to "have a love and true appreciation for chocolates".
Lana Mar 31st 2008 3:47PM
To those of you who are squawking about this, stick an apple in your mouth, please, because I am *sure* if you won the mega-lottery tomorrow, you'd go straight out and indulge in something outrageous just like these candies.
Is it right to pay such money for candies when so many people are without? NO it's not....
... but would most people who had a lot of money (and let's face it ... $2,400.00 to a millionaire/billionaire is panty hose money!) buy something so frivolous as this? YES!
So give it a rest, would ya'???
CeeCee Mar 31st 2008 4:06PM
Eileen, why are you pissed off? It isn't your money. I personally wouldn't pay that for chocolates, and I am a chocoholic. I cannot afford it. But rich people that have earned their money, that is their priviledge. just like when someone spends $10,000 a night for a hotel room, IT IS THEIR MONEY!!!! I don't think rich people should be made to feel guitly, by someone saying look how many hungry people, etc this would feed. People have their own charities & don't need other people to tell them what to do. Yes, if I won the lottery you had better beleive I would indulge in some silly expensive thing.
Craig Mar 31st 2008 4:12PM
$20 EACH FOR CHOCOLATE????? AIN'T NO CHOCOLATE ON EARTH THAT GOOD....ANYONE THAT WOULD PAY THAT IS A DAMN FOOL.....I DON'T CARE HOW RICH THEY ARE!!!! I GUESS THAT JUST PROVES THE OLD ADAGE, A FOOL AND HIS MONEY ARE SOON PARTED......
Pat Mar 31st 2008 4:49PM
Gee, your negative comments are disappointing. I ordered two of these last week...
Ashlie Mar 31st 2008 5:06PM
The only reason somebody would buy these is to show them off to the world. And when they show them off, nobody cares. So, there's no point in wasting $2400.
Justin Mar 31st 2008 5:15PM
The price simply enhances the meaning of the gift. The worth carries much value in the long term.
Samara Apr 3rd 2008 7:47PM
Justin you are a silly boy. The price does not enhance the meaning of any gift, That's just plain nuts. If my husband gives me a $12.00 box of candy I'm happy. If he bought me a box of $2,000 candy all kinds of red flags would go up for me. He CAN actually afford the 2 grand candy but I'm on a diet . I'd rather he bought me a new kitchen set. Samara
Linda Mar 31st 2008 5:18PM
I might spend the $20 for ONE of the pieces of chocolate in the box just to see if it's better than my beloved Nestle Crunch! What can I say? I have a simple palate. After all, I have no problem drinking wine that comes in a box and has a spout.
Marie Mar 31st 2008 5:28PM
If I were a millionaire or billionaire you can believe my personal assistant would have, The Bespoke Chocolates service from Sir Hans Sloane on her speed dial, whether it be for my personal chocolate choices of those 60 at $2,400.00 a box, or any other chocolates I may want to indulge in at the time.
DYANA Mar 31st 2008 5:31PM
Personally I can't stand the smell of chocolate. I am a woman who despises chocolate so to spend $2400 no way! With $2400 to spend on myself (give me a day at the spa here in Scottsdale Az)
Mark Apr 2nd 2008 2:31AM
I know many people in West Los Angeles who spend 4,000.00 on a pair of shoes BUT 2,400.00 on candy,NEVER! We would NOT think of it!

Why don't you send them $2400 and find out? There are people who give millions to help others and I am sure you are not one of them. If they have the money let them eat their chocolates in peace. You probably spent a lot on a car that could have gone to help others but you wanted the car.
