I've been trying to figure out who makes the vintage looking prams that I see celebrities pushing, and I finaly have, a company called Silver Cross. Unfortunately the price is a little out of my range, (I'm going to see if I can find a real vintage pram and restore it) but for any new parent that doesn't mind shelling out around three grand for a stroller, the Kensington is the coolest carriage that money can buy! Classically beautiful (you are going to cause major "stroller envy" at the park) and hand built, Kensington carriages are also conveniently collapsible. Adhering to the highest safety standards and comfort requirements, the specialty wheels provide a unique gliding sensation unmatched by other strollers. Kensington prams are available on the petit tresor website for $3,295.

The prams are made by Silver Cross. Look on Ebay under Silver Cross or prams and you can usually find them.

Silver Cross is the pram manufacturer for the Royal Family and loads of current TV and film stars. Did you see the Kensington in Vogue magazine???
There is a long list of stars on their web site. http://www.silvercross.co.uk/latest_news.php
If you want to repair a Silver Cross pram have a look at

Forgot to say that you can buy a Silver Cross Kensington for around $1400 from www,babybirds.co.uk less V.A.T and they will ship it for you. Saving approximately $1000. They are always listed on eBay.UK, often unused by babies and being sold by doll collectors. A secondhand one will set you back around $600 to $700 but generally you book and pay for the shipper to collect, which you can do on-line. If you live at the right end of the U.S. slip over the border to Macklins in Toronto. They are Silver Cross agents.

I can remember loads and loads of people having those big silver cross prams even as near as the 1980s. I was living in what would be classed as an economically deprived part of Glasgow at the time and many people had those big prams. People would share them with their sisters and cousins and so on and it was like every family had to have one. They are lovely, they are better for the baby's back and cosier and can be used indoors to sleep the baby. However unless you are planning a big family or dont mind passing it on as relatives have babies I dont think that it is worth paying what they cost now.

I am going to sell my original Millson baby pram.
It is in excellent condition. Only 100 had been made. No wonder Queen
was using one of them - it's most beautiful thing in the world.
We don't think we will have more children, so with my dear wife we
decided to sell ours. It can go only to good hands ! To someone who
will appreciate it and take care of it.
If someone is interested please contact me.

Did someone say Silver Cross are the preferred prams of the Royal Family? It's a common misconception that Queen Elizabeth used Wilson (Silver Cross) prams. Not so. She used Millson - a classic hand built luxury baby carriage, as did her mother and anyone else who could afford them. Silver Cross restored her Millson for Prince Edward as Millson ceased trading in 1965. The Queen's pram was a Millson Twin Cavendish adapted for single use. Incidentally, it's cheaper to buy a secondhand Kensington in the UK and ship it to the States. Nothing hearse like about them. A baby can lay flat and develop properly for a couple of years, unlike modern beach bags on wheels which mothers use for THEIR convenience, not the baby's. That's why we Brits always used proper carriage prams. We put the baby first, not ourselves. How things have changed. I hear a new digital Pram Magazine for collectors, buyers and sellers is coming out soon - perhaps on eBay? Who knows?
