This custom home is located in Chance Hope Farm, a small waterfront enclave that is part of St. Michaels, Maryland. Chance Hope Farm is a neighborhood of approximately 50 luxury single family homes that are all are on the water along the Miles River. This home has tranquil views of Eastern Bay and the Miles River. The 7,000 +/- sq. ft. custom built home has a beautiful sun-filled sitting room, a French country kitchen and my favorite feature, a two-story atrium library with a winding staircase. Outside there is a an inground pool, a pier and a detached three-car garage that has guest quarters. It is listed at $3.495 million.

Am I alone in thinking the facade from the forecourt is as bland as paste? It looks like #217-S from the Toll Brothers catalog of generic new homes. A few neat elements like the staircase but otherwise it really is a yawn invoking home.
St. Michaels and other tiny communities on Maryland's Eastern Shore has so many more interesting homes at similar price points.

i'd say straight-up ugly rather than generic in the front and back. check pic 5: what's going on there? is that a screened in porch, or a windowless section, or something else?
with a nice lakeview, you'd think they'd build the house with more windows to emphasize that. guess not.

I agree that from the outside it looks like any tract home from anywhere. I do really like the library and the kitchen, and of course the view is lovely, but the rest of house is bland, and the pool looks like an afterthought.
For that kind of money, it could have been much more.

Well said. The interior, like many tract homes, has some nice features but the facade is awfully vanilla.
