Fazioli Pianos: The Best Sound, The Highest Prices

People who are serious about music -- piano music -- have most certainly heard the name Fazioli. It's a brand that's been quietly but steadily building a reputation for itself in the most exclusive of circles since the 1970s, and daring to give the well-established Steinway name a run for its money. The Fazioli line, which includes some of the most expensive pianos in the world, starts with an entry level 5'1" grand piano priced at $86,000 and tops out with their priciest creation, the Brunei, priced at $409,000. They also proudly sell the largest piano in the world, and many others with unique features and appearances. Great sounds meets great design? You be the judge.

All hideous, except for the basic one that you featured.

Okay design, okay sound. I'm a proud owner of a Bosendorfer, another incredible piano brand. I think mine retails around $96,000 (BTW, they are like cars, you can get them for a big percentage off list, and the dealers will negotiate to move a high-margin item like this).
Most pros would argue that even the Bosendorfer is too bright and uncontrollable for serious concert work (I think it's brightness is absolutely gorgeous myself, way more rich and exciting than a Steinway), and the Fazioli is way worse in this regard. I've played a couple Fazioli, and they are like a Lamborghini, fast and wild, with great looks. But more like the girl you have a fling with at a bar, not the one you take home to mom.
