Porsche Writing Instruments Are Fantastic

I had no idea that the name Porsche stretched beyond automobiles! These writing implements are stunning, stylish, and understated luxury in your hand and they certainly don't soil that glamorous name. Choose between ballpoint, rollerball, or fountain pens and mechanical or propelling pencils adorned in stainless steel, yellow gold, or aluminum. So, carry it in your shirt pocket, tuck it into your planner, or display in on your desktop -- it might have you writing your best work yet!

Porsche has opened a great store on Madison Avenue (at 58th Street I think) where you can buy clothes, luggage, watches, shoes--all inspired by their automobile lines.

I love Porsche Design products! Especially the watches, but I bet they make great pens as well.

Those are pretty fantastic, but I think if I am going to invest in a high-end pen, I'll stick with companies that specialize in writing instruments, like one of these:

On a related note, doesn't it seem like some companies are getting out of control with the branding? I mean, there are Porsche pens, Ferrari skateboards, and a slew of products that are sort of unnecessary. What happened to specialization?

You said that you would stick with companies who specialize in pens.... well, although Porsche Design pens were designed by Porsche Design (as you would expect), they are actually manufactured by one of the oldest pen makers in the world, Graf von Faber-Castell.... so quality is extremely high. Even if you look at one of the removable clips on the P'3130, it oozes quality of engineering and design... and that's just the clip!

Check out the Porsche Design indicator here
http://www.jurawatches.co.uk/watch.asp?productid=54 this watch costs about $150K and is made by the well known watchmaker Eterna. In fact it is the only automatic chrono in the world which has a mechanical-digital stopwatch display. Porsche Design may not specialize in watchmaking, but Eterna surely does.

Perhaps the quality is just as high, then, but I'm sticking with my statement that all these branded items are getting out of control. I don't need my high quality pen to have a globally recognizable brand name, after all.
