Michael Andretti's Home, Estate of the Day

Today's estate listing has 70 pictures, but that's because there is a lot to check out. The 12,000-square-foot mansion is Michael Andretti's home in Bushkill Township, Pennsylvania. Andretti the son of racing legend Mario Andretti and the father of current Indy Racing League star Marco Andretti. He is also a former racer and is now the owner of Andretti Green Racing as well as other businesses. Andretti built the home in 1986. The ten acres include a six-hole golf course, six-car garage, pool, tennis court and a pond. The home is lavish and developed to the owner's specifications with hand-painted murals that reference the family's Italian heritage. There are six-bedrooms total as well as a gym, game room and wine cellar and massive two-story dome. The home is listed at $3.4 million.

Segnora;
Karma is every thing. For the most pat it only takes one buyer. I agree with Kathy, there is no accounting for taste and money can't buy it. This home will probably be gutted from the inside out and start over..The architecture is very confusing;too bad really- but why would anyone want to buy something like this when they could start from scratch...makes much more sence. There are some Sinatra fans out there...Reminds me of something out of Mario Puzo's books, kinda scary...The inside of this home needs real light. Why doesn't MArco want this home, maybe he doesn't get enough allowance? After all Marco now should at least have an option to buy, too expensive for a youngster...first dibs on his childhood home is probably too much at one time to wrap ones mind around? The house is dated, just "so-so" maybe there are tooo many bad memories....Bad Karma, Bad choices, but this is America where anything is possible.

Your Engrish isn't that good either! Funny Home, it looks like a planetarium, a museum, or something..? Cute.

Could someone please tell the Andrettis, that the correct spelling of the word is "prosperità".
You would have thought they would know, given all the examples of their "Italian Heritage" in that monstrosity of a house..

I used to love my Tuscany styed villa...Now I am going to make maja changes....No more ...it has so left a bad feeling for me now. There is no acccounting for bad tast but really who would want to pay the taxes on this monstrosity of architecture. Why not make another theme park? Go carts, popcorn, and carnival rides...and a dinner theater, people could throw tomatoes...just like in Italia', Signora.

What do you mean awesome? Have they as citizens contributed anything accept the need for speed, and why aren't they doing formula1 in Italy, or someplace in Japan, or EU? SADD

>I THOUGHT I knew the definition of UGLY! Not so. Glad I
can't claim Italian. Where's the 'pit crew' ?`

This home has no sense of place. It's way over the top tacky. The sun tanning bed in the bedroom that also has a sink in a corner--horrible. It looks like in the same bedroom the shower opens onto the bedroom, like some cheap German hotel in the Black Forest.

Black Forest Mold and garbagio!
Spectacular Bid Jan 17th 2008 5:01PM
Yikes - what an assembly of ugly bits and pieces that together looks even worse if they were apart. A would-be buyer wouldn't even know where to start to 'fix it'. The interior could be slightly reworked, but there is only so much money and effort you can invest.
The red ceiling foyer just invites a comparison to "Tony" Montana's "pad" in Scarface complete with the ugly brass railing of the stairs.
Sure Mario lives right next door but even living next to legend goes only so far in glossing over this wreck. I've been to Italy for extended periods frequently enough to know nothing in that house emulates rich craftsmanship of Italy!
The ceilings seem very low in several rooms and what is up with that cheap Home Depot on-sale looking cherry wood everywhere? The contemporary exterior looks like a commercial building and planetarium were slammed together. I vote this one for a Luxist hall of shame ...

Signor,
Agreed, with reservations!
Travis D Jan 17th 2008 7:08PM
Oh. My. God. That might be the ugliest house I've ever seen.
Pork CHop WIllie Jan 23rd 2008 3:28PM
How long does it take to make ugly; then so ugly you have to move?
PATRIZZIA Jan 18th 2008 12:35PM
WOW ..I LOVE THIS HOUSE IS ALL ABOUT ART ,ITALIANS LOVE ART ,AND I BELIEVE THIS IS ALL ABOUT THAT LOOKS COZY ,OF COURSE EXPENSIVE BUT I BELIEVE THAT WHEN SOME ONE NEW MOVES IN ..THEY WILL MAKE IT THEIR HOME ,AND APRECIATE IT ,THIS IS ABOUT PERSONALITY AND I SO LOVE IT!!CHEERS AND SMILE.......MAY GOD BLESS YOU!!PATRIZZIA....
Pork CHop WIllie Jan 21st 2008 5:33PM
Patrizzia? How is this house going to get sold in this kind of real estate market.....Maybe you should put it up for sale in JAPAN, in Honda Country....where you have some friends. You have scared all Americans away with your strange family "lack" of values. What happened? SADD
Pat Jan 18th 2008 9:00PM
Italian heritage? Is he related to Tony Soprano?
NEON18 Jan 19th 2008 5:31PM
Maybe one of his children would like to buy it, or perhaps his dad would like to make a museum out of the property. In the back they could make a cemetary for all of those young innocent children who have been killed on the highways and byways in America emulating Sonny and Mario on the raceways. It isn't an ugly home it is very reflective of the darkness that surrounds it inhabitants. Some other person may love it, and remember it only takes one rich person to buy a home like this one. I don't think "class' is reallythe issue. Some people love that "Hugh Hefner" look. Maybe there will be silk bathrobes awaiting the new owner!
