First NYLO Hotel Opens in Texas

In 2006, I wrote about the plans for the NYLO hotel chain. Now the first NYLO loft hotel, the NYLO Plano at Legacy has opened in North Dallas.
The hotel is a mid-priced hotel with a more luxurious and fun feel. It boasts a lobby gathering spot with pod chairs and glass antler-shared chandeliers and the staff wears uniforms designed by by Project Runway alum Daniel Vosovic. Each NYLO hotel will have its own theme. NYLO Plano is described as "urban cowboy" whereas the next property in Warwick, Rhode Island, will have more of a nautical theme. The CEO has said that he wants NYLO to be the Starbucks, IKEA or Mini Cooper of business and leisure travel. They plan to put 50 hotels in suburban and secondary city markets by 2010.
The hotel also has green elements such as lights turn on automatically when guests enter and shut off automatically when they leave, recycled paper in desk pads and folio binders, bath and body products comes in recycled bottles and most interestingly, the use of wind power to supply half of the hotel's energy needs.
The rooms are all called guest lofts and have large windows. They offer a room with a view, suites, and the lifestyle suite which has a large terrace. At the 176-room NYLO Plano, introductory rates start at $89(weekends) and $169(week nights) through the end of February.
