Dionne Warwick Loses Her Jewels in Italy

Every time a story of celebrity hotel theft hits the news I wonder why celebrities travel with so many valuables. The latest to lose her bling is singer Dionne Warwick. Thieves stole two rings, a necklace, a pair of earrings and a Rolex watch worth more than $100,000 total from the singer's room at the Hotel De Russie. The rooms at the hotel have safety deposit boxes but Ms. Warwick left her jewelry on a night table. What's really interesting is that the robbery occurred in the same room at the hotel where Cameron Diaz encountered a pair of thieves seven years ago.

Some people are just stupid. They have safety deposit boxes for a reason. Why not just leave your purse out in the hall? Just like over here. We have so many crackheads running around. You need a gun just to walk the dog. Some people in the government are stupid enough to think about letting none violent crackheads out of prison. Where do you think they got the money for the drugs in the first place. Talk about letting the fox loose in the hen house.

Wealthy people should have nothing, they should continue to pay more in taxes than you have ever earned in a lifetime and should continue pay your welfare so you can sit at home all day and play video games and smoke cigarrettes. Has the thought ever occured to you that when some purchase a Rolex, its no different than what percentage of their income it requires of you to pay for dsl or aol. Quit whining and if you dont like the way you live get off you ass and change it.

The only thing I have against the rich. Who exploit the working class. People who are forced to work for low wages through no fault of their own. Ronald Reagan had his trickle down theory. Let the rich keep more and the money will filter down to the working class. Well the rich took the money and ran. Turning millionaires into billionaires. You have no right to say anything. Until you understand how the rich raped our country and ruined millions of lives.

I have been to Europe very recently and you are warned about your valuables by all tour agents. It is well known that you shouldn't travel with a lot of jewerly to anywhere.

From a cheaper hotel to a high price hotel, there is no excuse to have anything of value stolen. Almost all rooms have safes or the hotel will keep your valuables in their safe.
Having traveled to Italy, etc. every brochure or travel agent or researching on the internet tells you not to bring anything of value in case of loss or theft.....Even if one hasn't been told by the above, it's even just plain common sense.

strange, I travel all the time. I have never been robbed, oh well I don't take expensive jewelry with me that I didn't even pay for it the first place. That's right folks the celebs get it all free from the manufacturer so they are seen wearing the stuff. I also don't make phony insurance claims.

Why is it that it only makes "news" when it happens to a "celebrity"? It also makes no difference whatsoever to me that she was negligent enough to leave those things in the open and unattended; it is her responsibility to take care of her own valuable property. The safety deposit boxes are there for a reason, after all...

I too, feel sorry for Ms Warwick. I'm sure the state of California will find it interesting, as she is on their list of the biggest tax scofflaws. She owes the state between 4 and 5 MILLION dollars in back state taxes.

If you travel with jewerly worth that much money then why didn't she put it in the safe or have the hotel put it in their safe? If I take a necklace worth $500.00 I place the necklace in the safe before I leave the room. The first thing I do when I return is check the safe. Maybe she is on drugs or her weird life style has left her without a brain. Have you had the chance to see and hear her in the last few years. She is a nut case.

They probably put the stars in that room on purpose, a set up. It is a inside job. Come on what are the odds of this happening twice, mark my words it will be a third time with some other star/celebrity/singer.
