Every time a story of celebrity hotel theft hits the news I wonder why celebrities travel with so many valuables. The latest to lose her bling is singer Dionne Warwick.
Thieves stole two rings, a necklace, a pair of earrings and a Rolex watch worth more than $100,000 total from the singer's room at the Hotel De Russie. The rooms at the hotel
have safety deposit boxes but Ms. Warwick left her jewelry on a night table. What's really interesting is that the robbery occurred in the same room at the hotel where Cameron Diaz encountered a pair of thieves seven years ago.

Oh Boo hoo. There are people starving in this world who can't even find a roof over their head and we are supposed to feel sory for an over-indulged singer? Please. It's either that or she is looking for more change to get some "candy" for her "lovely" neice Whitney. No one - I don't care if you are Oprah Winfrey - needs REAL diamonds and jewels that are that pricey.

Why are some of you bashing Ms. Warwick for claiming stolen jewelry...it happens everyday. I am not a rich person, but I forgot and left some earrings on the dresser which meant a lot to me. When I returned to my room they were gone and I cried like a child. It is the PRINCIPLE of stealing that matters. And a thief is an unscruplous person and it hurts the person who has had something stolen from them. That is why God made it one of the 10 commandments..."Thou shall NOT steal!" Stealing is a sin plain and simple. Ms. Warwick had a right to report the theft and you all need to stop hatin'.

I'm not buying it. I have very little of value. Still, when I travel, I hide whatever I have, especially if the room has a safe in it.

Desperate times call for desperate measures. Most celebrities don't think of their future until it's already here and too late because they no longer have the adulation from their fans, they no longer carry much clout and the money has run out. Very sad - but true.

Oh, sure, and I'm Mother Theresa. "Give me the money, I'm broke."

I read this article because I just had my saphire earings and vintage Rolex watch stolen from a hotel room while in Aruba. I couldn't beleive some of the comments from people here. Get a life folks! Theft happens, no matter who you are! Not a word of sympathy either. I feel sorry for Ms Warwick.

Check your spelling, Patty...it's morOn, not moran. Now who's the morOn??
Joe Jan 11th 2008 10:29AM
She should use her crystal ball to find them.
ManhattanMan Jan 11th 2008 10:35AM
Hey everyone - just how low has the level of grammar and spelling sunk in this country?? It's "morons" NOT "morans"... People ought to check their posts before hitting the "send" button!

the story is completely believable. What she described is what would be one set of jewelry that she might have removed, set down on her nightstand and forgotten. It's not as if she said she lost 5 pair of earrings, 3 watches and 7 necklaces. It was probably her jewelry from the night before.
If this was an insurance scam don't you think it would have been for more than $100,000?? That's a lot in my world but I'm sure she has jewelry worth much more that would have reaped a check three times what the insurance company will write for this.

Why doesn't she just call the Psychic Hotline?
tnipnad Jan 11th 2008 10:39AM
Oh my gosh, were they the family jewels?
el Jan 11th 2008 11:37AM
Hmm. If she did the infomercial for the ESP line, would'nt she get a vibe about something? DUH! Yes, Patty, it's MORONS! I'm disabled & don't travel. I have nothing of value. I suppose she needs insurance $ or don't get expensive jewelry. QVC has Diamonique that will pass for real without the worry. Will Whitney stake a claim in the matter? Her & Bobby Brown ain't gettin' along now. As for Paula: She just lip syncs anyway. Don't ruin Petty's gig. At least he can perform LIVE! Same as E.J. Those are entertainers! YEAH!

SHE'S FREAKING PSYCHIC! ! ! !
SHE SHOULD HAVE SEEN IT COMING ! ! ! !
and going ! ! ! !
DEJAVU ! ! !!

Maybe she is a morOn and she just "forgot" where she put them? I do it all the time although I wish my jewelery was worth that much.
A. Carter Jan 11th 2008 11:28AM
She shouldn't have left her jewels on the night stand, she should have put them in the safe. I think that is stupid that they don't make sure that their jewels are locked up when they are traveling and in motel or hotel rooms.
BAMA Jan 11th 2008 11:50AM
OH NO!
