Every time a story of celebrity hotel theft hits the news I wonder why celebrities travel with so many valuables. The latest to lose her bling is singer Dionne Warwick.
Thieves stole two rings, a necklace, a pair of earrings and a Rolex watch worth more than $100,000 total from the singer's room at the Hotel De Russie. The rooms at the hotel
have safety deposit boxes but Ms. Warwick left her jewelry on a night table. What's really interesting is that the robbery occurred in the same room at the hotel where Cameron Diaz encountered a pair of thieves seven years ago.

From Wikipedia:
Following her signing with Warners, with Bacharach and David as writers and producers Dionne returned to A&R Studios in late 1971 to begin recording her first album for the new label, the self-titled album Dionne (not to be confused with her later Arista debut album) in January of 1972. The album peaked at #57 on the Billboard Hot 100 Album Chart. In 1972, Burt Bacharach and Hal David scored and wrote the tunes for the motion picture "Lost Horizon." The film was panned by the critics, and in the fallout from the film, the songwriting duo decided to terminate their working relationship. The breakup left Dionne devoid of their services as her producers and songwriters. Dionne was contractually obligated to fulfill her her contract with Warners without Bacharach and David, and she would team with a variety of producers during her tenure with the label.
Faced with the prospect of being sued by Warner Brothers due to the breakup of Bacharach/David and their failure to honor their contract with Dionne, she filed a $5.5 million lawsuit against her former partners for breach of contract. The suit was settled out of court in 1979 for $5 million including the rights to all Warwick recordings produced by Bacharach and David.
Dionne Warwick made the Top 250 Delinquent Taxpayers List published in October 2007. California Revenue & Taxation Code Section 19195 directs the Franchise Tax Board to publish an annual list of the top 250 taxpayers with liened state income tax delinquencies greater than $100,000 in an effort to collect money from those taxpayers, some of whom have been delinquent since 1987. Dionne Warwick is listed with a tax delinquency of $2,665,305.83 in personal income tax and a tax lien was filed July 24, 1997.[2]

I dont believe her jewels were stolen. She probably had the stolen because she wants to collect the insurance money - or - she wants to make news because she might have an album coming out. Celebrities are morans.
Deanna Jan 11th 2008 10:48AM
First, she does not need to collect insurance money. I am sure she has plenty of money. Secondly, I think it is the maid(s) who are taking the items because the same room was robbed before when Cameron Diaz had the same room. Think about it...
carl Jan 11th 2008 1:32PM
If celeberties are morons why did you read the article? whos the moron now?
Jena Jan 11th 2008 3:46PM
Do not take expensive jewelry to Europe. There is nothing you can do after it's stolen. We had the same thing happen in our tour group in Italy. My question was why bring it??
millie Jan 11th 2008 5:16PM
m-o-r-o-n is the correct spelling
JC Jan 11th 2008 4:21PM
First I think you mean moron, not moran. Second, she sued Burt Bacharach for royalties. Bacharach and his partner, Hal David, made lots of royalty money as the composer for all of the hits that Dionne had. She made nothing from the royalties for being the artist that made them hits. I don't know if the case was ever resolved but she does deserve royalties for her part in making these records hits.
donna Jan 11th 2008 6:46PM
Well, Patty ... guess I agree that the items weren't stolen. WHY would she have all that with her, then leave it out on a night stand? It's the Ineedamoney syndrome.
not sure but guessing Jan 11th 2008 7:24PM

Ok she is suppose to be psychic so why didn't she see this coming????????? Hum just food for the thought.
Pat Jan 11th 2008 10:13AM
This is the same woman who sued Bert Bacharach for failing to write more songs for her so she could have another hit. I don't think her jewelry was stolen at all. I think she is trying to come up with some money from the insurance company.
