Land's End Inn, Estate of the Day
One of the most unique inns in Provincetown, Massachusetts (a town known for, among other things, really eclectic bed and breakfasts) is on the market. Land's End Inn occupies a coveted spot on Commercial Street on Gulf Hill. The inn has views of the harbor and was originally built in 1904 as a private residence. It has 17 guest bedrooms and 18 bathrooms. Each of the rooms has its own unique theme such as the library room, the English garden room and the Moroccan tower room. Tthe whole place is touched with a charming eccentricity.. The home also has three different kitchens.There is also a manager's apartment and the listing includes an adjacent lot at 20A Commercial St. of approximately 8060 square feet. Sotheby's has had this on the market for a long time... Easily a couple years if memory serves me correctly. I wonder why no one's bit yet -- it looks like a nice place.

Why are a few pictures so fuzzy when marketing a home in that price range? It is just baffling when an agent (or hired photographer) takes the images - clearly the listing agent must see they aren't up to par - but still uploads them. To me it reflects a lack of attention in marketing the property.
As for it languishing on the market I suspect it comes down to basic economics.
Paying $5M+ (add in taxes, et al) up front *plus* furninshings for a boutique inn with just 17 rooms and a peak rental season of just 4 - 5 months simply doesn't make sense. I'm sure plenty of Luxist viewers can give examples of other Inns/boutique hotels being paid for much more per room, not likely in a seasonal community, but do those businesses make money?
Operating costs, taxes, structural costs, etc make for this to be a money pit if someone is to continue to operate it as an inn and paying $5M+ . Returning it to a private residence will cost a great deal and puts this home in a commerical area.

Interesting, Spectacular Bid. Your similar comment was posted, and mine, from the day before, was not (technically, I never received the confirmation e-mail).
I had just assumed that the pictures were taken with a disposable camera (which, of course, is kind of odd for any property, in general, but especially one $5M+).
