Perhaps the new vodka, but vodka (and rum) seem to lend themselves to much more experimentation - it's a lot easier to add flavors, while tequila tends to dominate a mix.

What else does tequila go with besides citrus flavors?

Jacqueline

Comments on Tequila is the New Wine?

I dated a woman for a while that at times would drink Tequila. Certainly, one would not destroy a reposado or anejo by dashing it with a bunch of sugary mixers. Save that treatment for the "golds." Incidentally, tequila gold is merely white (blanco) with caramel coloring added. Unfortunately, the coloring/flavoring does nothing to enchance the taste, and actually degrades it. The blancos are far superior, contrary to common belief. They are fragrant and smooth, pure and unadulterated. Fine, aged tequilas (reposados & anejos) are just as varied and complex as any cognac and should be savored and enjoyed in snifters!

cook

Comments on Tequila is the New Wine?

How about a Tequila Mary which is also sometimes called a Bloody Maria?

Flash

Comments on Tequila is the New Wine?

tequilla can't be the new wine, because you can't drink a glass of tequilla with your meal without getting blasted. it can be the new vodka, but i doubt that will come to pass either, because crazy flavors are what makes the martini so popular.

beanspants

Comments on Tequila is the New Wine?

I agree with you cook. Teguila may not be the new wine, but it is a drink that deserves respect. Approximately two years ago, a bartender introduced me to a "tequila neat." It was basically a double shot of Patron in a snifter. It is now my drink of choice. From Cuervo to Don Julio and so forth. I love tequila. I saw a show on the travel channel that explained that in Mexico, Tequila is almost always sipped and not done in shots. When it's sipped (in moderation), there is a much smaller chance of ending up on cops or Girls/Guys Gone Wild. Give it a try.

Chock

Comments on Tequila is the New Wine?

tagalog. napakasarap walang katulad ng inumin ko tequila ang sarap ng dating lalo na pag dating sa love making.

Floro Orgas
