Serendipity 3 Creates The World's Most Expensive Dessert

For the last few years, the Golden Opulence, a $1,000 ice cream sundae, has reigned supreme as the priciest dessert at Serendipity 3 in New York. Now Stephen Bruce, owner of Serendipity 3, has gotten himself a Guinness world record for the most expensive dessert. The dessert emporium teamed up with jeweler Euphoria New York to create the "Frrozen Haute Chocolate," a $25,000 chocolate sundae. The new dessert is made from a blend of 28 cocoas from all around the world and is infused with five grams of edible 23-karat gold and served in a goblet lined with edible gold. It is topped with whipped cream, more gold and a side of La Madeline au Truffle from Knipschildt Chocolatier, which sells for $2,600 a pound. It even comes with souvenirs, an 18K gold bracelet with a carat's worth of diamonds that rests at the base of the goblet and a gold spoon set with white and chocolate-colored diamonds. It makes yesterday's $1,000 bagel look positively simple by comparison.

Nice touches, the souvenirs.
Eating gold just doesn’t seem appealing, as it would just taste metallic, wouldn't it? But congratulations on the record and the decadence!

How stupid! Anyone can make this type of record just make the price of any dessert more at ANY restaurant. Stupid, stupid , stupid!!!
Autumn Nov 9th 2007 5:33PM
I agree, stupid.Very stupid. As if restaurants don't charge enough for food. I think the next time I have a bowl of icecream,I'll throw in a few Black Pearls and a couple of of "carats" for flavor. Whats realy revolting is that people have nothing else better to do with their money and they buy this crap. What a waste.

Again, with 269 named billionaires in America, and millions of ordinary people who can't afford medical insurance, I get the urge to vomit just looking at the decadance. When will the working poor wake up???

If I had $25,000 to spend, I think I'd use it for something that would last a little longer than dessert...like maybe towards my MORTGAGE!! I think not having to pay THAT little bill for a YEAR would be more appealing to me.

i guess there are people out there with more money than sense,i cant relate with people on that level,(thank god) the best i do is strossners,(on special occasions) i like living in the real world, where one thinks of the needy.

$25,000 for a dessert? How many meals, or weeks or months worth of rent would that same amount of money buy? People are starving and homeless in this nation of wealth and, evidently, indifference, if something like this can be created and marketed. Perhaps those who can afford such an indulgence could recognize and be grateful for their good fortune, and direct that financial energy toward those in need...

For Gods Sake, what is wrong with people,,, the hogs who are paying for and eating that dessert should be ashamed of themselves. They are probably the same people who are crying out to the middle-class to donate more money for the starving children in other countries while we ignore the ones in our own. No wonder there is poverty, when you have A**holes in this world who are buying desserts like these. Have to give the owner of Serendipity credit tho,,, Now C'mon and give some back to the people who have none. Give me a break.

It is terrible that anyone would spend this kind of money on dessert when there are so many people who have nothing to eat. We have a lot of self-centered people in this world.
dilp25 Nov 10th 2007 8:44PM
ok this is disgusting, people all over the owrld are starving, especially children. i dont understand why people just come up with more ideas to waste money, its not fair.

I want to thank God that we live in a country where we CAN spend $25,000 for a dessert if we have it and WANT TO!!!!!!! WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?!!! I personally do not want to live in a country where I work my butt off to earn whatever living I am blessed with to have other people tell me to be ashamed of what I CHOOSE to spend the money that I MAKE on!!!!!! This country and the world will always have poor people. The rich giving up money they earned to give to so-called poor people will not make the poor any less poor. It only enables them to keep being poor! I pray that our country will wake up and stop buying into this Robin Hood mentality. We live in the Land of Opportunity. We are headed for the Land of Socialism, where we ALL will be poor except for the elitist politicians who are trying to send us there now. So I say, if you have it, spend it on the dessert, or whatever else YOU choose to spend it on!!!!!!
rosabianca1219 Nov 11th 2007 9:50PM
Hell YES Janis.
If I made that kind of money, NO ONE will tell me how to spend it. If you work hard and earn that kind of money, kudos to you! I wish the rest of the world would get off their lazt butts and accept some responsibility for themselves.
J Nov 12th 2007 2:22AM
You have to be an ass to purchase this.
Mark Nov 12th 2007 4:54AM
Whoa, let's stop with the crocodile tears already! At first I was agreeing with everyone...stupid, wasteful, outrageous, etc. Then I suddenly realized: it's easy to be offended by the frivolous uber-rich, but it's faux-outrage if we still drive our SUV...have 6+ pairs of shoes...drink $5 Starbucks latte grande's...you get the picture. What's your indulgence? You can bet the kids in Guatemala don't have it! Let's be sure we have simplified our lives before we excoriate the "really" wealthy. I recall some Guy once said something about seeing splinters in our brother's eye...
