Simon Cowell Picks Up A Bugatti Veyron

Simon Cowell blew some serious cash on some serious wheels recently when he had some spare time on his hands (and apparently some spare cash) due to a week off work for the Rugby World Cup. He dropped over £1,000,000 in LA on two new cars: a £750,000 Bugatti Veyron and a £400,000 Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe.
Somehow this doesn't surprise me. Simon Cowell hardly seems to shy away from flash and attention, and although fast cars don't necessarily mean an ego problem (I would love to have a Veyron myself!) I think in his case they might!

It amazes me how a person can have the concious to spend 2 million dollars on a piece of sporty metal when there are so many homeless, hungry, children and families with nothing. Just a quarter of that money would set several families straight. What about helping to employ some of the people with not jobs. Just a portion of this money could help to employ a person for years. I just wish the rich would understand their riches are not in what they buy but instead in what they can do for someone with much less than they have. They are some good and decent people out here down on their luck that just need a little push to help them on their way. All poor people are not on drugs or stupid or bad. I turns my stomach to see people get that excited about SIMON wasting money on a CAR for goodness sake. There is a child right now so hungry and cold and this CAR cannot feed or give them shelter. Get a grip people and go out and help someone who really needs it.

TO WISEWOMAN: I am tired of all the poor staqrving kids, tell their parents to get off their butts and get a job. There are plenty of roofing/ hous building, landscaping jobs out htere to earn a decent living. If your successful as simon is, he can Damn well please spend his money any way he wants.
GET RID OF WELFARE , START A JOB PROGRAM that really puts people to work.
Gil Oct 20th 2007 7:29AM
Did you happen to notice that Simon went to Africa in a fundraising effort for the starving? Do you have any idea how much time and treasure he has given to charity? I'll bet it's more than the entire group of whiners combined. JUDGE NOT LEST YE BE JUDGED.
larry van Oct 20th 2007 7:37AM
Wise women by buying the cars he is supporting people that built them. and look at all the jobs that American idol has created . We do not live in a communist country we are allowed to have nice things from our hard work . American idol and Simon have given away millions to charity . you need to change your name to JEALOUS WOMEM
Flo Ree Oct 20th 2007 7:44AM
You go Simon! Come on people - he earned the money - didn't beat some old folks out of it, didn't rob a bank and listened to some really crappy music along the way! And I betcha he gives more to charity than you'd think. AND if he doesn't....it ain't your business or mine. I doubt he needs to check with the charity police to tell him what to do.
Gil Oct 20th 2007 7:47AM
Wise woman, Simon and American Idol have raised more money for the hungry than you could imagine. Do some research before you write such malicious garbage. JUDGE NOT LEST YE BE JUDGED.

fast car. small penis! never fails.
packbackrb Oct 20th 2007 7:53AM
Simon is entitled to his toys. He and American Idol have indeed given generously to charity. You go Simon!
Lyn Oct 20th 2007 12:38PM
First of all, Joey - GROW UP! Nobody cares about your lewd comments. Second, the rest of you are right.. American Idol has created huge stars AND they all give back to the poor and homeless. I think their special last season to help feed Africa was one of the most viewed specials ever. They have the talent to earn the money, they can do whatever they want to with their money! They donate plenty of it, let them live lavishly with the rest, without critisizing them, I would if I could!

Poor Wisewoman. She's nobler then Simon and you jump on her for her honesty. She's not saying she wishes she had the $, she is stating she thinks the $ could be spent in a better way. She's right on!
wayne Oct 20th 2007 8:08AM
When people work hard for their money they have all right to spend it any way they like. I'm sick and tired of people behaving like all rich people is responsible for poor people misfortune. Have you ever stop to think that a lot of people are hungry, homeless or sick because of stupid choices they made in life. Simon wasn't born rich, suppose he was waiting on someone to give him something you would never heard about him. Think about all those people who choose to take drugs, have unwanted children, care less about education and end up on the wrong side. Is it because a rich man decided to buy a car instead of giving away his money why all this is happening? Please tell me. This country has too much opportunities to have so many homeless and poor people.I came to this country and I am doing a lot better than many who was born here. The main reasons for poverty in this country is the lack of responsibility and laziness.
Janet Moody Oct 20th 2007 8:10AM
Poor WISEWOMAN. Not JEALOUSWOMAN. She didn't say she wished she had the $, she said she wished it had been better spent. She's nobler & gets jumped on.

To: Idol Judge:
Keep buying whatever you can afford. Keep buying so that those who built this "art" form shall keep his/her jobs to feed their "poor" families who, in turn, will go to the store to buy food to keep the store owner in business to be able to pay his "poor" employees, etc., etc. Thousands of individuals of all backgrounds (poor, middle class, above-middle class), assisted in the production of such a vehicle and its "artistic, creatively-embued embodiment, etc. Thank you, Simon. Thanks to all the thousands who benefited from your purchase: the poor, middle class, etc., the clothes makers, food providers, landlords, gas stations, state & federal taxes paid by all those, who again, profited from your purchase and hard work as a "Judge" and "Entertainer. Mr. Simon, there are many "charities" you have given to which have not been exposed. I wonder how many charities your "critics" have given to(???).

Has wise woman bought an unneccessary dress or pair of shoes? It is all relative. Maybe she should only eat beans and give the rest of her money to those less fortunate.
The more money wealthy people spend the more jobs there are.
I agree with other writers who say she should change her name to jealous woman. There is no honor or nobility in her. She just really doesn't understand the way the economy works.
