Re "Fleecing the sheep" -- no shepherd keeps flocks because he loves sheep, but because he knows the price of mutton and wool. All religious bodies that accept sacrifices in the name of God are just temple whores. Those who lead the sheep to make those sacrifices in fear of God are spiritual extortionists. Prostitution may be the oldest profession, but religion is surely the oldest racket.
