Yesterday was the second anniversary of Hurricane Katrina's arrival in New Orleans. As the news reports, and our own team at Blogging New Orleans showed, the work to repair the city is far from over. Anne-Dale Jeweller, which is based in Mandeville, La., has created a collection of jewelry to benefit those affected by Hurricane Katrina. The collection includes badges, rings, earrings and pendants available in both silver and 14K gold that bear statements of support such as "I Know What It Means to Love New Orleans," "Pray for the Gulf Coast" and "Return to New Orleans." A portion of the proceeds go to a variety of charities and relief efforts. So far they have raised more than $170,000. The badge shown here in 14K gold sells for $399.95.[via National Jeweler]

Honestly, I think a multi-billion dollar investment in New Orleans by the US Government is the dumbest thing ever. It's just gonna get hit again, it's below sea-level, and it sure seems to me like a giant waste of money. Time to move out and move on folks. You got stomped on, and it sucked, and maybe you don't want to move, but do you really want to spend 5 more years of your life rebuilding only to have to taken away AGAIN 5 years later?
/facepalm

ooglek, you're an idiot. Do you know anything about New Orleans other than what you see in the media? If you'd take the time to learn the facts and truth, then you'd have a different opinion.
My sister has lived in New Orleans for the past seven years, and still lives there. (She was one of the lucky 20%.)
I own that pin (the much less expensive one)and wear it proudly; right along with a "I *heart* NOLA" shirt.
