The rules in major league soccer in the United States state that players are not to travel by private jet so as to not seem different from the fans. That just wouldn't do for superstar David Beckham. The LA Galaxy got a special dispensation to fly Becks and the squad via private jet because Beckham is so mobbed by fans and there are security concerns. I wonder how the rest of the team feels about the special treatment. It probably doesn't do wonders for the team's reputation around the rest of the league.

That's why I saw the New England Revolution on my flight from Dallas...I didn't know who they were, but they looked like athletes, and when I tried to talk to them they were huge jerks.

Athletes? Yeah its a sport , yeah you have to be in shape and it requires skill but they are FRIGIN SOCCER players! Them having an "attitude" for riding a commercial flight. They wonder WHY the sport won't catch on in the US they way the fanatics take to it in Europe? They do NOTHING to promote the sport except act like a load of dinks. Get a grip boys if you were professional athletes you'd be in a WHOLE different LEAGUE......no pun intended.

Can you imagine, we could end world hunger, maybe even world poverty with all the frivolous expenses celebrities and politicians blow their money on!Why pay athletes, celebrities or politicians(who by then way are doing something they totally enjoy!)more money than soldiers, law enforcement,firemen, who put their lives on the line for us!

Beckham and his snooty bride are waaaaay overrated. They both think their stuff does not stink, and they are a colossal bore along with their chi-chi pals Tom and Katie....quelle drag...
If you want REAL soccer, turn on Gol TV and watch it...you may not know Spanish, but it is a fun and exciting sport...and Becks is not representative of most of the players.
Referring to the Beckhams' coming to LA...ladeedah...about as much buzz as the opening of a Walgreens. I kinda like their approach...but much more, would like to see their departure.

Given how much attention Beckham receives, and rightly so, it's more than acceptable he fly private. I'm sure his teammates, who benefit from the attention, have no problem with it either. As far as I'm concerned, the man has a lot of talent, is a real boon for US soccer, and is a true class act. Other atheletes could stand to be more like him.
