That massive plain wall above the garage doors is heinous as well. I'd like to see more detail in some of the interiors. I'd have to disagree about the garage doors. In this case, the symmetrical arrangement makes the doors part of the architecture. Although I can't see the lot lines, I would guess it's difficult to have a side entrance to the garage.

Sarasota

Comments on Sarasota Modern, Estate of the Day

I think the water might be a wee-bit photoshopped. I live nearby, and while beautiful, the water is not so azure as the photos would lead to believe. It is a Richard Meier house, and it is very significant for being a progressive example of contemporary architecture on the west coast of Florida. As well, its also beautiful, and the price is a relative bargain, if you're a Richard Meier (and other modern architects) enthusiast.

rich

Comments on Sarasota Modern, Estate of the Day

Actually this house was not designed by Richard Meier. I do like the clean lines of this home. I don't like all modern architecture but this one is nice. A friend of mine call these homes warehouses.

Josh - I don't think the photos were altered. I live in Sarasota and we have had really clear water lately. We have been getting rain lately but before when rain was scarce the waters were very clear. I have not been on the boat lately so not sure how visibility is after recent rain fall.

http://www.luxurysarasotarealestate.com

Marc Rasmussen

Comments on Sarasota Modern, Estate of the Day

I love modern design, but modern design has to make sense and be livable. This just looks like a builder's spec house in which someone might have gone a little wacky putting windows everywhere, without thought as to how someone could live there.

Also, they should have done a better job with the furniture positioning to de-emphasize the fact that not even the decorator could figure out how to integrate the rooms cohesively.

JennT
