World's Largest Coin Up For Auction
What would you do with an over-220 pound gold coin the size of a pizza? I have no idea, but if you've got a hankering to put your money in gold, now is your chance. Teletrade is holding an online auction of the world's largest gold coin, recently produced by the Royal Canadian Mint. The coin contains more than $2 million of gold bullion and features maple leaves on one side and Queen Elizabeth II on the other. It is one of three purchased by Teletrade's sister company, A-Mark Precious Metals, Inc. The coin is the first of the 100-kilo Canadian coins available to the public and will be auctioned off on August 16, but bidding has already started.

The whole idea of the coin money is divisibility and portability. The comments others have made about pockets to carry the coin or change back from spending the huge coin are actually legitimate questions. Obviously, the coin is not meant to be spent. It is a collectible. And, yes, anyone who buys it has more money than they know what to do with it. Ever hear of www.LibertyDollar.org ?

Well why the hell make something this big that sereves no purpose. I'll tell ya what to do with that money. Save the seal population and stop hunting them and preserve the habitat for the polar bears. Take care of your animals in your country that you are trying so hard to make them extinct. Murdering helpless baby seals. Wake up you butt heads up there in Canada and do the right thing. Save your animals and evniroment. I wish the U.S.A. would do that do. Global warming is gonna kill us all.
