Carmel's Butterfly House, Estate of the Day

You can't get much closer to the water than this. The Butterfly house is just one of five truly oceanfront properties in Carmel, California. The front of the home does look a bit like a butterfly perched on the point. The home has stunning views and you are practically directly involved with the ocean. The home has just two bedrooms and less than 3,000 square feet but this is a chance to own a California landmark, which is on the market for the first time in 50 years. It is listed at $19.995 million. After the jump, this is also a popular dive site you might not want to stroll around in front of the large windows in the buff.

Ok, so the surrounding outdoors is great and it has a small "trailer-park-looking courtyard. However, based on the pictures I could apparently live in a tent there and have the same comforts.

$19 million!! They must be joking. The house is outdated and only two bedrooms. The surrounding beach doesn't even look nice, just riocky and like it might start to smell at low tide. They better rethink that pricing.

A 20 million- dollar trailer, interesting. It's not even renovated or decorated. Nevertheless those are some amazing views.

I've lived in carmel monterey area for yrs and i know this house, the view is great, and low tide there is no smell, and easy to walk and see the tide pools, it is wonderful and you can see it from the highway when your driving. inside the house it may only have two bedrooms but it is for a couple who just wants a summer place, with some friends to enjoy the area while they are there,

Obviously most of the people below have not been to Carmel. If you had been thier you would know that anything remotely nice is well over a few mil. Trailer or not that is the way it is.

The property is very expensive and needs a great deal of restoration work. But if you can afford it you are buying a piece of America that would be wonderful to have. When I saw the property I was lucky enough to have time to stop and really look at it.I fell in love! It is a rough diamond with so much potential. I would restore the house, rip up the carpet and have hard wood floors, enlarge the rooms, reduce the courtyard- with sunshine even on a windy day!landscape it and name it "Mermaids at Butterfly Point".
Don't be jealous and nasty if you can't afford it just appreciate the place it is a beauty.
