Rosehearty, Estate of the Day

Today's estate takes us back to the luxury enclave of Centre Island, New York (a place we most recently covered for Billy Joel's home, still on the market at $32 million). Today's home is a classic Colonial built in 1900. The home has been redone and updated. The home has five acres that include a pool, tennis courts, a cabana and a sandy beach. Inside the redo has been a bit of a charmectomy and the current decor is a touch shabby chic but the good bones remain with high ceilings, oak floors and delicate moldings. it is listed at $14.8 million. After the jump, tennis with a view.
UPDATE: This home, which belongs to Rupert Murdoch and was recently rented by Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie is now listed at $12.8 million.

While not terrible, the house seems to deserve better interior appointments that aren't so bland if not sterile.
Obviously people buy the house not the furnishings typically, but the vision of what it could be is hindered.

The furniture is mostly from Pottery Barn! I am not kidding. My two sisters are constantly shopping there and they always leave the latest PB catalog on the coffee table. I recognize quite a few pieces, including the "candle chandelier" in the formal dining room.
It's like that episode of Friends where Ross walks into a room and swears that it was grabbed from that month's PB catalog.
