Lovness Estate, Estate of the Day

Today's estate is one for the Frank Lloyd Wright fans. The Don and Virginia Lovness estate in Stillwater, Minnesota sits on 20 acres of lakefront property located 15 minutes east of St. Paul. The home has two bedroom wings separated by the living spaces that include an immense fireplace built of hand-cut Wisconsin stone. A glass window wall faces views of the lake. The property includes both the main house, known as the studio, and a smaller home, the cottage, which is also made of Wisconsin stone. The homes have been maintained by the family since the mid 1950s and the built-in furnishings, designed by Wright for the homes, go with the property. There are also Wright designs for three additional cottages. It is listed at $3.75 million.

Oh God, that's beautiful! You have to get used to a small kutchen though, as opposed to the humongous versions of today.
If they are going to develop or subdivide the property I would wish that whoever buys the property would use the remaining Wright plans.

Those existing plans NEED to be bought to fruition. The "studio" does need some respectful updating and some cleaning work to the stone work but it really is quite gorgeous and those views are beautiful.
I'm intrigued by what looks like three statues at perhaps the entry point in pictures one and six.
What a little gem.

Just, er, WOW!!!
I'm seeing it as a gay retirement community with a build out of the remaining 3 cottages.....with 4 of my closest friends.

I can't help but wonder what kind of kitchen FLW would design today. How cool would that be?!

They are being awfully generous calling that pond a lake. i have a lake front house on 300 acres, if that counts as a lake. And only $6k in taxes for $3.75mm on 20 acres?? That's per acre, right??
