You wouldn't peg Disney World as the place to find the latest hot cigar bar but Fuego by Sosa Cigars opened last month on Disney's Pleasure Island.
Cigar Aficionado reports that the cigar bar has a cool bar that looks like a slab of melting ice and a full menu of alcoholic beverages. There is also outdoor seating, Custom wooden humidors offer a variety of cigars include the Fuente Fuente Opus X as well as the house brand
Sosa cigars. Smoking is prohibited throughout much of Walt Disney World and is limited to designated smoking areas. The cigar bar is open from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m.

It is what it is...I am a smoker who lives in Ohio...the entire state just went smoke free. If I go to a bar or restaurant, I go outside, 30 feet from the entrance, and have a cigarette. I was at Disney in March and had no problem locating a designated smoking area to have a cigarette. Do I like the law, no - do I think it's right, no...but I have to abide by it and I do. And believe it or not, there are still those of you who complain even when we abide by these laws. You never ceases to amaze me.

NActually Anna, i've been told by people who were surprised that I smoke (and who don't smoke){did you not read that part earlier?} that I didn't smell like it. It's not real hard....hold it away from you, blow it away from you and wash your hands. If smoking is such a huge problem for you why are you married to a smoker? Because you're sure as hell holding it against us, I can only imagine what he puts up with on a daily basis. He must be a miserable man. I feel bad for him. You should probably take a look at how you come off to people. Get off your high horse lady. I'm sure you have disgusting habits as well.

Good lord...was just there last month and I whole-heartedly disagree that smokers are "Breaking all the rules". Never saw ONE person at our Disney resort smoking in a "non smoking area" nor at the parks! To lump all smokers together is more than JUST A LITTLE IGNORANT. You are entitled to your opinons, yes, however even you must admit it's a bit NAZI LIKE to classify a whole group of people in a lump statement. Isnt' this 2007??
Anna Jul 20th 2007 3:19PM
OMG another stupid one. No angle, the problem is that smokers in general smell. Co workers stink after they come back from the smoking room or outside too. If you are a smoker you just don't realize it. Smokers can't smell it on them selfs like a non-smoker can. and by the way I have no problem.
ME Jul 20th 2007 3:17PM
I'm with you 100% Donna! :)
Anna Jul 20th 2007 3:20PM
ME grow up, you have the problem and started your rude comments. You want to kill yourself be my guest, and yes you do smell and so do your clothes weather people tell you or not. I am so done with this waste of time conversation.

This Bob guy sounds like he was eating sour grapes. because of his condition. Hey let the smokers go your all a bunch of nut's Ya! for Gay days at Disney. Heard Walt liked guys also. hmmmmm
Robin Jul 20th 2007 3:20PM
Yes, Walt did smoke. He had his cancerous left lung removed on Nov 7, 1966 and died a month later.
melanie Jul 20th 2007 3:23PM
i think its stupid to allow smoking anywhere in disney world...it is mainly meant for children and teens and you dont want to be sending the wrong message out to them.

I'm with those who wish they'd ban smoking entirely at the parks. If you want to ruin your health take the chance of killing yourself, fine. But don't impose your smoke on me. If the smoke itself was something that could be totally controlled, that would be one thing. But I have asthma, and even a whiff of cigar or cigarette smoke can be dangerous to me and others with respiratory illnesses. What fun would a day at the park turn out to be for any of us if we land in the ER struggling to breathe? Surely you wouldn't impose that sentence on us. You wouldn't die from not smoking for a few hours. But consider this: there are those with respiratory illnesses who very well could die from being forced to breathe your second-hand smoke even for a brief moment. Is it worth it?

This country has gone to hell because of rude non-smokers. They are the same people who have argued against anything enjoyable in one's life. If we listened to them we wouldn't be able to go take a crap because the toilet paper has cancer genes in it.
STAY OUT OF PEOPLE"S LIFE"S and get one of your own.

Why do smokers feel that they are the only people in the whole world?? It is NOT disgusting for "the mouse" to cater a bar to smokers. Smokers still exist in the world and the last time I checked, they were still American citizens and still deserved all of the rights and liberties associated with being one--including the right to the pursuit of happiness. Smokers are well aware of what happens to them when they choose to smoke, just as those who eat fast food are aware of what the consequences of those actions are. I do feel, as a smoker, that non-smokers should be offered areas for their comfort as well, but smoking is not illegal (yet!) and if people choose to smoke, there need to be places where they can practice this activity. Sure, be a courteous smoker, but just because a bar is available that caters to smokers doesn't mean Disney is evil...just smart.

Honestly, I work for WDW, and this location is at Pleasure Island. So, one, why are they posting a picture of the Walt and Mickey statue in the Magic Kingdom? Like I said, the location is on Pleasure Island, and is surrounded by Clubs, Bars, etc. So it's not like it's out of place. I honestly believe that PI is the only place that should cater to smokers in the way that the bar does. However, like Disneyland, it should be banned in the parks.

TO KEN,
There is an old saying that applies to you. . .IT IS BETTER TO KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT AND LET PEOPLE THINK YOU ARE A FOOL, THAN TO OPEN IT AND REMOVE ALL DOUBT.
Gioia Jul 20th 2007 3:28PM
Since Pleasure Island is for adults and NOT children, there is nothing wrong with a cigar bar there. If they had a cigar bar in Cinderella's castle, then i might have an issue!

nlegere, what U are saying, I somewhat understand, but in a way, cause of ur illness, not EVERYONE around U should have to change. Maybe, U have to move away, knowing ya can't be around it. I feel for your health, but the world is not going to change, you need to take whatever necessary precautions you need to. If I was by you, and you told me, I would move away, but not everyone will..
greg Jul 20th 2007 3:29PM
HEY KEN...WHEN THEY MAKE THAT DEVISE ,LOL,I HOPE A SMOKER IS THERE TO KICK IT STRAIGHT UP YOUR ASS
Anonymous Jul 20th 2007 3:32PM
Just to clear the air... us "non-smokers" aren't out to get smokers. Most are concerned about the health of smokers and those around them. Saying that..I have no problem with people smoking in designated smoking areas; but the guy who whips out ciggies in public places (sidewalks, lines, etc.) really pisses me off. It's not my fault that you want to shave years off your life, but it's a problem when you endanger others.
Smoking is a nasty way to kill yourself and gum up the streets with cigarette butts and smoke.
To all you smokers... GET A LIFE!

Disney has banned smoking in all of the rooms at their resorts at Disney World - there are no "smoking" rooms available. PERIOD. They also tell you upfront if they have to perform cleaning over and above the normal room maintenance, including cleaning up butts left on the public walk ways and balconies, they will charge you, up to $500.00, per occurance. They have "smoking areas" scattered around the parks and resort areas to accomodate smokers. So, one "cigar bar" at Downtown Disney is not really out of line.
We're going in September and the warnings came with our reservation confirmation.

Smoke doesn't go in the air. I can smell someone's smoke for 50 yards. We can't go anywhere without smelling some idiot smoking. Breathing in smoking tobacco into their lungs and blowing it out. Some kind of great thing to do!!!!! LOL I smoked for 30 years and feel better at 60 than I did at 16 when I smoked. It is poison. People like to degrade people who complain about their smoke simply because they think no one can smell them. I can't even hug my mother because she stinks so bad with cigarette smoke. You just THINK you don't stink. You are kidding yourself. You stink so bad we can smell you in any line at a park, near a mall entrance, at your place of employment, or anyplace else you go. We can't go far enough away not to smell you. You smell like a burnt out house.
