You wouldn't peg Disney World as the place to find the latest hot cigar bar but Fuego by Sosa Cigars opened last month on Disney's Pleasure Island.
Cigar Aficionado reports that the cigar bar has a cool bar that looks like a slab of melting ice and a full menu of alcoholic beverages. There is also outdoor seating, Custom wooden humidors offer a variety of cigars include the Fuente Fuente Opus X as well as the house brand
Sosa cigars. Smoking is prohibited throughout much of Walt Disney World and is limited to designated smoking areas. The cigar bar is open from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m.

Disgusting; the mouse is headed in the wrong direction.

This is nothing new. They had a cigar store in downtown disney for a long time. They just have one now in a different area of the place. As far as smoking in general in the parks, not to many adhere to the rules on where they can smoke. They simply dont care or are to lazy to go to the smoking area. People have no problem blowing smoke in your face. I wish it was banned entirely.

The mouse is sending a bad message to the kids.

Here's a great idea--if the idea is so disgusting, just keep your Smoke Nazi butt outside and shut up.
Write Pig Nose Waxman in California if you are so upset. The truth is, you Smoke Nazis aren't about anyone's health or well-being--you just want to control everyone's lives. GET ONE OF YOUR OWN.

I take issue with Chris' comments. I do smoke, but he's lumped me into the category of "People".....FYI---I do not, have not, and never will blow smoke into others faces, nor will i inconvenience others with my bad habit. All smokers are NOT lazy, and all smokers do not have a problem being considerate of others who do not smoke. Perhaps you need to find higher classes of environments to inhabit.....evidently you're frequenting the wrong places.

With only 18% lung function left, I certainly not be going there. Smokers in general are rude, just look at any intersection in any town. Littered with butts. People with poor lungs have to suffer from them standing in doorways doing their thing.

With only 18% lung function left, I will not be going there. In general smokers are rude, just look at any intersection in any town at all their butts.

People who smoke are LOSERS!

Ever since they opened "Pleasure Island" embraced such immoral values such as homosexual relationships, Disney has cleary ABANDONED Walt's vision for Walt Disney World.
In the past 15 years I've seen: more attractions and side attractions be replaced by gift shops, Other attractions change from 'educational entertainment' to CHEESY plots and product propaganda, the food quality decline, and castmembers seem grumpier than ever. Well, that is, at least referring to the ones who haven't been outsourced yet to other companies.
I caution ANYONE planning to visit Disney who hasn't been there in al long time; Don't get your expectations up too high...Disney isn't as good as it use to be.

I don't think opening a cigar bar in Pleasure Island is a big deal. If adults want to smoke at a bar then let them. Disney doesn't allow smoking in any public places (including your hotel room-not even on your own balcony). If anything, Disney goes out of their way to make it difficult for smokers to smoke.
bev Jul 20th 2007 2:34PM
so what, if they want to smoke a cancer stick let them , its outside
FDRickard Jul 20th 2007 2:35PM
Why are all smokers rude? I smoke but I do not blow it in others faces. I also make an effort to smoke in designated areas, I know I am not alone in this. Whatever happened to freedom in this country. If someone chooses to smoke they should be allowed to do so without some person coming up and making a huge fuss. Whose the rude person there I ask.
ohgal Jul 20th 2007 2:35PM
so what, if they want to smoke a cancer stick let them, its outside, what else are you going to try to govern? sex? lol
missmattie Jul 20th 2007 2:40PM
I think it's OK for Disney to have a cigar bar. They want to appeal to all - and it is not necessary for you to go to the bar if you do not want to.
When I joined my daughters last year at Disney World, I did not see ANYONE smoking at any of the 4 Parks... except in the few designated smoking areas. Twice I saw employees direct who was taking a cigarette out of his/her pack toward those smoking areas. So I was very impressed.
You would think we would have learned from "Prohibition," that habits - bad or good - can not be legislated. I, too, fear the Smoke Nazis. Once they have impressed their will on all the smokers, they will be looking for something else to control. And perhaps they will hit on something you or I like and want to prohibit us from doing that.

I am a smoker (gasp) and was just at disney in Florida. I like many others smoked in the smoking areas only. the only problem we had was there wasn't enough room for all of us. I stayed on disney property and did not smoke in my room but in a place that was set aside for smokers.
I saw very few people smoking in non smoking areas.
I think it is sad that people turn on one another because they smoke or don't smoke. It just gives someone who is rude, anyway, an excuse to be more so.
this is true of the NON smokers as well as the smokers.
I truely believe that before you take for face value what you have been told you actually read the data and research that has been doled out to you by the media and cancer society before you embarrass yourself with comments that can't be substantiated.
Alex Jul 20th 2007 2:42PM
Nauticalman, I think you're a loser - you have no idea what you're talking about; I was at Disney just last year, and everything you say is absolutely false (or blown way out of proportion). And exactly WHAT is wrong with homosexual relationships, you homophobic pig?
It's people like you we try to keep OUT of Disney World.
Alex Jul 20th 2007 2:44PM
And anyway, if you're taking your kids to Pleasure Island, then you're a horrible parent. Pleasure Island is supposed to be for adults ONLY - that's why MOST of the stuff is only open at night. If you want all kid-friendly stuff, how 'bout trying the Magic Kingdom?
michael pederson Jul 20th 2007 2:47PM
The right to smoke or drink is individual choice, non smokers or drinkers should not impose their will on others, nor should they say all smokers are bad dirty people...last time I was at Disneyland(2000)there was plenty of designated areas for smokers in the open air, where smoke goes in the air cannot be controlled. Therefore shut up and go around if neccessary and try to have a good time
ME Jul 20th 2007 2:52PM
As for Disney World embracing homosexuality...from what I understand Walt himself was a gay man. It's really not a big deal either. I smoke. I'm not rude at all. Not with smking, not in general. I don't throw cigarette butts everywhere. I'm not a lazy person. I smoke where it's designated. Seems to me that the rude people are those who do not smoke! They are the one's groupling us all together and improperly labeling us smokers. Not only that but when i'm outside of a building (in the designated smoking area might I add) it's the non smokers who walk by, fake cough and make some rude comment about me smoking. You wanted us outside....we're there. Now what? And why be so rude when you walk by us? Especially if i'm smoking where the sign says it's ok. Walk another path so that my smoke doesn't bother you and you don't get your britches in a wod!
