Chateau, Texas Style, Estate of the Day

What is it about Texas that seems to inspire people to build chateau-style homes there. You get it in South Florida too but the Texan version always seems a bit more elaborate, striving more for a Disneyed-up fantasy than versimilitude. Today's home, in Frisco, Texas is French luxury, gated community style. The home is on 1.36 acres and boasts marble floors and walls and all sorts of grand space including a large kitchen, sumptuous master suit etc.. But the home really goes for broke with murals, stained glass and vaulted wood beam ceilings. Some rooms with brick and dark wood seem vaguely Tudor, others with large columned arches evoke the Italian renaissance, the gilt detailed ceiling in the dining room seems vaguely French and then we have the muraled turret retreat which reminds me a little of the Bavarian-themed beergarden down the street. A rather curious home indeed. It is listed at $4.295 million. After the jump, painted statuary in the stairwell.
