The car is (internally) known as the Mille Chili, referring to the 1000kg weight (much like the Mille Miglia refers to the 1000 miles of the race) NOT the Mini Chili. Officially it has no name.

Also, it isn't real, it's a cardboard and wood proof of concept, not a real car.

Henry

Comments on Ferrari Prances in Hybrid-Electric Style

Henry:
Not to start an all out war of who said what here, but please read the caption under the picture before you roast someone else for misinterpreting.

Andi

Comments on Ferrari Prances in Hybrid-Electric Style

Are you referring to the below:

"Hybrid-electric vehicles seem to be all the rage these days, and the prototypes in the stables at Ferrari's home of Fiorano is no exception."

And what would I be looking for, the incorrect verb tense?

Henry

Comments on Ferrari Prances in Hybrid-Electric Style

*sigh*

You said: "Also, it isn't real, it's a cardboard and wood proof of concept, not a real car."

The caption said: "Mille Chili (front) made of lightweight carbon fibre"

Last I checked cardboard and carbon fiber weren't the same thing

Andi

Comments on Ferrari Prances in Hybrid-Electric Style

The actual vehicle would be made from CFC if it were to be built but this proof of concept is only made from cardboard with paper wheels.

http://www2.autoblog.com/2007/06/21/ferrari-makes-commitment-to-green-performance-with-fxx-millechil/

It appears that other bloggers are just as inattentive as the original poster.

Henry

Comments on Ferrari Prances in Hybrid-Electric Style

*double sigh*

Nothing about this article is correct. Henry was close enough. The pictured prototype is a mockup. As per Autoweek, this is what Ferrari actually said about it:

"The Millechili, equipped with a twin turbocharged, direct injection 3.0-liter V-8 rated at 550hp, would be faster than the 800hp, V-12 FXX super car, Ferrari said. But the Millechili would use 42 percent less fuel, and CO2 emissions would drop from more than 400 grams per kilometer to about 250g/km, Ferrari said."

Not a hybrid. One-word name. Twin-turbo V8. Certainly a "luxe" candidate, but no hippie-green nonsense, and it certainly wasn't called "Mini Chili"... did somebody at Luxist get "taken for a ride" on this one, so to speak?

TrackOwner
