People keep referring to Anthony Hopkins as "Sir". However, that is incorrect since he gave up the title when he became an American citizen. Americans can recive an honorary knighthood but can not be called "Sir".

He used to correct people whenever he went on talk shows but lately I've seen just give a look and keep talking as if to say "I'm too tired to argue the point anymore." Peter O'Toole was asked recently if he was knight and if not, why not. He responded with mock outrage "NO, because I'm Irish!"
