Anchorage, Alaska, Estate of the Day

I have never done an estate of the day from Alaska before so I decided it was time to show the state a little love. This luxurious home was built a few years ago and has an ideal location on a hill surrounded by five acres. The home has over 7500 square feet of space with five bedrooms a home theatre room, multiple family rooms and an exercise room with a sauna and shower. The property includes a three-stall horse barn. The home is listed at $2.2 million. After the jump, the ubiquitous travertine floors make their way to the far north.

Somehow, I was expecting a look that didn't strive so hard to be seen as "big city sophisticate". Perhaps more like those luxurious "log cabin" estates from Aspen or Jackson hole.
Of course, I'm sure that many residents of Alaska and Fairbanks in particular are sick of being stereotyped as rugged outdoors people.

Cold. Sterile. Zero personality. Garden fountain in the foyer looks dumb. Fireplace undersized and oddly placed. Think I'll pass.

As an Alaska resident I agree that this particular home has much to be desired. I can't stand it when people blow all their money on the house and then can't afford to decorate it with any personality. There are many beautiful homes here, those who have been put off, don't lose heart.
