Campbell Cliffs, Estate of the Day

I first mentioned this home way back in December 2004 when Luxist first launched but I figured it deserves another post. The home sits in the foothills of the Catalina Mountains in Tucson, Arizona. The home's dramatic style suits the local stark beauty. The home is 31,000 square feet including 6,000 feet of deck and patio space. The home has 24 rooms including a 1,200 square foot commercial kitchen with blindingly polished steel appliances, a massive home theater, an office wing, a gym, indoor shooting range, tennis court and a pool area that includes a firepit and an outdoor kitchen. The home is full of all the stone and wood you might expect from a Southwestern home but done in a modern way that derives its power from angular glass and curved wood. It is listed at $22 million. After the jump, still on the market, is it too much luxury for Arizona.

It certainly is very luxurious. It doesn't appeal to me, but that's just because I don't like such straight lines everywhere. $22 million is a lot to live in Tucson, however, and look at brown hills all year. Scottsdale, maybe. Tucson, eh...

This house was for sale for 1-2 years at $19.995M. So when it didn't sell, the owners figured, why not increase the price to $22M (but throw in the furnishings). So, here we are, 3 years after the house was built and first put on the market and it remains unsold.

Not sure. I think this house was on "My Super Sweet Sixteen" on MTV. The Father rented it for the party, or at least tried to.

It was also on HGTV over Memorial Day -- "What's With That Really Expensive House?"
Right house, wrong place.
