Ashe County Log Cabin, Estate of the Day

As much as I love choosing homes for estate of the day posts, I also love it when people send in tips, highlighting homes I never would have found on my own. Today's estate, courtesy of tipster Higher Ground, is a deluxe log cabin in Ashe County, North Carolina. The home is built with huge logs of hemlock harvested in Virginia and sits on 12 acres with a creek and views. It also sets next to 2000 acres of game land on Three Top Mountain for added privacy. The five-bedroom home has more than 3,800 square feet of space. The great room features a floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace and the entire home features luxury amenities such as granite and maple butcher-block counters. The master suit has a private covered balcony and a master bath with a whirlpool tub and heated ceramic tile floors. The loft serves as an exercise room. The deck includes speakers, a hot tub, refrigerator and a grill. It is listed at $1.3 million. After the jump, beams everywhere, even in the bathrooms.

The authenticity of this house is very nice with all the right rustic, log home touches. But the modern tv's, oven and refrigerator are a bit out of sync with the home. I would rather see such items blended in quite a bit more with the decor.

Much better than yesterdays estate. So many pictures makes it so much better.

Hey Deidre: Tip # Ocean Grove Estate, Pacific Palisades - what blows my mind on this is that there are 3 guest houses, one dedicated house, one above the main garages and another above the carriage house ...but what is most awe inspiring is the main guest house is 3 stories with its own elevator....

Love the Property. But the house seems to have a Kit, DYI, feel to it. Does seem like an architect or home owner spent too much time or love for the design.

This is, indeed, a beautiful home. The one set back it has, is that it was given away a while back in an HGTV contest. It was built by the best builders and woodworkers of roughly 2004.
The antiquity, while maintaining integrity, charm, and undeniable character are what really set a home above others.
This estate just has such a "circa 2000" feel too it that i would barely call in an estate, especially with some of the true gems you can find in the Asheville area.
On a related note, if any estate-lovers are in the North Carolina area, the Biltmore Estate, offers some of the most luxurious architecture and grounds this side of the Atlantic (and good wine to boot). It's a must-see.
Sincerely,
One-time poster.

Wow. This house is put together so well I don't even mind the antler chandeliers. (the antler door handles are a bit much, but hey, for a house like this that plays it up all the way, why skimp?)
I usually dislike log cabins, but this one actually does it right. Go big or go home, eh?
