Austin Contemporary, Estate of the Day
Wow, just wow. Today's find is in Austin, Texas, a ultra-modern renovation of a commercial building from 1860. The facade maintains the old look but that is all that remains of the building's former life. It is now a four-story contemporary home which is dressed to impress with luxury finishes. The home has four bedrooms, a library, home theater, three-car garage and the finishing touch, a fourth floor sky lounge with a lap pool, deck, spa and lawn. And look, you are conveniently located next to a Subway which is where you might be eating to afford this home. It is listed at $7.5 million. After the jump, your view of Texas politics.

I would sell my mom for this house. Unfortunately I don't think she would bring in quite enough... hell, I'd sell my entire extended family and everything they own.

Who knew heaven was actually in Texas?

This place is on 8th and Congress which is right next to all the happening night life in Downtown Austin.
I actually went to this place for an INSANE after party. This was about one year ago, in fact I actually documented it and have some pics at the house:

It was owned by an Indian guy named Eddie at the time, and it was an AMAZING place. It had an elevator and everything. Lets just say this is a GREAT house and GREAT location to throw a party!
The funny thing is you would NEVER expect this place to be on 8th and Congress. If you told an Austin resident there was a $7.5 mil luxury residence there, they might now believe you.

I just can't find anything wrong with this place, except it's not in California and it's not mine. Beautiful.

I don't think this is Eddie Safady's place. The staircases are all wrong, as is the entrance. There are a couple of other townhouses on the same block built after he did his.
It looks more like this place: http://www.austin360.com/blogs/content/shared-gen/blogs/austin/outandabout/entries/2006/07/14/long_center_soi_1.html

I would have a 1 block walk to work if I lived here, maybe I can pay this off saving gas money by not driving to work? I eat at that Subway and NEVER knew this was there. I'll peek in next week :)

This is most definitely NOT EZS's place. In fact, this is almost twice as large as his place. Anyone loan me 7.5 million?? I do wonder if it was the same architect who did his, though, as the style is almost identical. Especially the black granite in the kitchen.

Does anyone know the history on this. Who fixed it up?
