50 Cent's Home, Estate of the Day

Today's estate in Farmington, Conn. is one of the legendary symbols of excess. Mike Tyson owned this home in the past but it currently belongs to 50 Cent, who bought it for just $4.1 million. Tyson's ex wife originally wanted $25 million and so the home was a bit of a discount considering that is has more than 50,000 square feet of space.
Fiddy is said to have spent a few million on the house but as the Real Estalker Mama mentions, it's hard to find it when looking at the photos of the place. It seems to be completely devoid of taste and personality. Sure it's got a disco the size of many homes but the overall effect is rather bland. The home has 19 bedrooms, four kitchens, a movie theater, full gym, five Jacuzzis and an indoor shooting range. The pool area is P.I.M.P. -worthy with an infinity pool and a Playboy Mansion-style grotto but the interior of the house seems to be decorated more like a businessman's hotel than a rapper's paradise. Sure the two-story lobby is lavish and there is a dining room with a Baccarat chandelier and a formal living room overlooking a one-acre koi pond, but overall, this place disappoints. It is listed at an ambitious $18.5 million. After the jump, I'm guessing the fountains are all Tyson's legacy.
UPDATE: This home is still on the market for $14.5 million.

If this was Dave Letterman's, or Jay Leno's, or Tom Cruise's house, than all of these post would be positive and complimentary! hhhmmmm...I wonder why this house got so much condemnation ? Consistently predictable........

I'm just happy for him wish it was my home. I agree
with the INVESTMENT statement everything else is NULL
and VOID..BE-FOR-REAl when you purchase a home you're suppose to put your own taste in it whatever
it may be that's why there are several differnt colors, materials, shapes, stones etc. otherwise everyone and everything would look the same. When you purchase a home that's already built that was someone else's outlook and design you go in and look around thinking of what you're going to change to make you like it or what you're going to remove and
remodel....Purchased at 4 mil ---anything over that
is a profit who cares...I think ex-wife gave it away
anyway so he was there to benefits I wish I had the
4 mil to have purchased it ....I'm always HAPPY for
my peeps!... What can I do to have what 50 has....
I wanna be like 50 cents -- Michael Jordan, Bill Cosby, Oprah Winfrey ....to name a few....if I over -
spend soooo what....I worked for it and look what it
took for me to get here !!! Keep reaching for the
top otherwise you'll fall to the bottom ...

Haters Haters Racist Haters! Let's look at the many many homes of all the white "business men" who, believe me are involved in some sort of white-collar scams including, but not limited to drugs. Just because they're not out pushing them on the streets doesn't mean their not pushing them. Check your last pharmacy bill!
You all can't stand to see a black man have something better than you. You have so much jealousy it's sickening. Buying a 25 million dollar home for 4 and selling it for 18.5 sounds like a damn good business deal to me..... But I guess flipping homes are only for white rich folk whose endeavors are featured on TLC!

This house belonged to real estate mogul Ben Sisti, but was sold after Sisti was convicted of several federal felonies involving real estate scams and embezzlement. When Sisti owned the estate it was very beautifully appointed and decorated, not at all like a McMansion or hotel, both in- and outside the home.
Tyson made several "improvements" to the estate to suit his tastes, as did 50 Cent, when he bought the place.
Whether its current decor meets with my taste, or anyone else's for that matter, is of no consequence because whomever purchases the mammoth home and surrounding - and beautiful - grounds, will more than likely have enough money to do whatever they want to it.
Though most people buy a house with the intention of making it a home by furnishing it with decor to match their tastes, some people do buy houses just to have a place to occassionally sleep and shower or host a party, and not to really be used as a home in the traditional sense. Many such people have so much money that they often have multiple homes across the globe and are rarely at one long enough to really care about the interior as anything more than a status symbol. I mean really, unless the family is extremely large (several children and extended members), is there truly a need for a house that big and sprawling as anything other than a showpiece for bragging rights?
As for what a rapper's home should look like, just because the rapper, like any other musician or famous/rich person, whether one believes him/her to have talent - a decision based on personal taste - performs one style of music and has a public image, does not mean that is who they truly are inside as a person. Public relations and image consultants are very well paid to "spin" a star's image to fit what makes them famous. A "gangsta" image sells plenty of albums and makes the rapper a lot of money, but that rapper is human too and may have a personal side which he/she keeps shielded from the public so as to have something of his/her own that fans and paparazzi can't touch and tarnish. I am not defending 50 Cent or any other star's personal taste, but as we mere mortals wish to have privacy, the stars do too. And just as we all have our own personal tastes -whic is what makes us individuals and unique - so too do stars. We don't have to agree or even like their taste, just as no one else has to like our tastes. It's called individualism.
By the way, before anyone jumps on me about how I could possibly know about not only the home's previous history before Tyson and 50 Cent, I grew up in Farmington, very close to the estate, and I was a volunteer firefighter in Farmington. Part of the town's charm is that it is community oriented and people are friendly and caring and tend to come together in times of need, while also having that "small town" gossip syndrome that spreads word of certain things - good or bad - faster than a fire started by dropping a match in a pool of gasoline. I can tell you that when Tyson lived at what we all called "The Sisti Place," he had several parties and often required police and fire department standby, either on property or nearby, and because the house is set back and somewhat difficult to spot and locate, many of his guests would come to the fire house for directions to the mansion.
I don't mean to sound as though I'm preaching, I'm not, but I was adding my two cents.
P.S. The idea someone had about turning this into a rehabilitation center or some other such facility, was a good one, however, town policies could make that difficult, not to mention the fuss many of the neighbors would put up ... likely leading to a public hearing. But it was a nice idea.

I don't agree with 50's lifestyle, but you must admit that people of all ethnic backgrounds have (in a plethra of ways) made him rich. It's really clear to me that we have a number of self made millionaires with earned Phd's giving comments/criticism that is based off of racial stereotypical concepts mingled with envy. We must esteem the facts only. Curtis is young and wealthy and one day we'll all see if this investment was indeed beneficial to him!
LOLA May 24th 2007 11:36AM
I think 50 cent could care less what we think of the house. However, this posting was to comment on what we have seen.... and I see remnants of a wealthy azz man who has enough money to keep a simple decor.
dcherilyn May 24th 2007 1:57PM
Rich is a dork and I don't think he has any money.
Carlos May 24th 2007 11:39AM
I totally agree with the fact that it has more of a hotel type quality then someones home. Although, have you seen the size of some of the entourage that move around with these artists, and it does'nt seem so unlikely after all.
He could always turn it into a "Rappers Retreat" and make even more money...lol
tazl20 May 24th 2007 11:44AM
Answer to the question at hand. What does a rappers house look like?
Anyway they like. Just because they rap does not mean they can not have the same taste that a ceo of a major company has. People are people get over it. And stop acting like people of different lifestyles can not have the same taste get over yourself. because you dont like it does not mean 50 cant.
cnsrvtv May 24th 2007 11:46AM
Assuming a bit much here, wrtwst. Predictable that race is brought up here. tsk tsk
just a thought May 24th 2007 11:46AM
when you are selling a home, it should look like it is ready to be moved into, not homey. people should be inspired to add their own touch, not be distracted by the current decor.
this could be how he likes it. it could be his "quiet place", where he can go to escape the demads and mold of being a rapper.
dragongirl May 24th 2007 11:53AM
To PerreyZ,
First, you should try actually meeting 50 Cent before judging him according to an outdated stereotype. And second, if you think your not making enough money as a 'model' perhaps you should look in the mirror before you call someone else talentless. He wouldn't be so successful if he wasn't talented.
hazz May 24th 2007 12:00PM
nice rappers house but just give it time and it will have bullet holes in the walls, crack burns on the carpet and of course hoe scum floating in the hot tubs. but thats the rappers life. live big and large till you either get killed or end up in jail.
Stacey May 24th 2007 12:02PM
After reading everyone’s comments, the only comment that I am left with is, I cannot believe the grammar and spelling of some people! Wow!
Claudia J Grant May 24th 2007 12:10PM
Oh! I think the home is fitted for someone of royalty. And even though 50 cent is a rapper. Then he deserve to live like a KING. The home may not have a catch you eye on the outside. But the inside is what really counts. I feel like this home is too good for a businessman. For all those that is stereotype of rappers. Remember rappers are poetic musicians who deserve to live even better than a businessman. After all they above businessmen. Go head 50 cent and Mike DO YOUR THING!
Malik May 24th 2007 12:10PM
First to answer what is a rappers house supposed to look like?
To answer that, I think it would require who the rapper is as a person because a house USUALLY reflects the owners personality regardless rapper or not. Not knowing 50 personally, I would think that with his income flow, if he wanted this house to look any other way, it would. So therefore, I think a rappers home or rather THIS rappers home should look just like this or whatever it looks like after the pictures have been posted.
Second of all, Curtis has a job....the title...."rapper" and apparently he has morphed into the role of a businessman. It appears that he's very successful at his job. I am not mad at him. It is of no consequences to anyone as to his his job, his style or body of "works". You can't argue with the fact that he is successful as a businessman and a rapper and is flexible enough to maintain a versatility that keeps his money making money without having to go to jail like the original owner.
