50 Cent's Home, Estate of the Day

Today's estate in Farmington, Conn. is one of the legendary symbols of excess. Mike Tyson owned this home in the past but it currently belongs to 50 Cent, who bought it for just $4.1 million. Tyson's ex wife originally wanted $25 million and so the home was a bit of a discount considering that is has more than 50,000 square feet of space.
Fiddy is said to have spent a few million on the house but as the Real Estalker Mama mentions, it's hard to find it when looking at the photos of the place. It seems to be completely devoid of taste and personality. Sure it's got a disco the size of many homes but the overall effect is rather bland. The home has 19 bedrooms, four kitchens, a movie theater, full gym, five Jacuzzis and an indoor shooting range. The pool area is P.I.M.P. -worthy with an infinity pool and a Playboy Mansion-style grotto but the interior of the house seems to be decorated more like a businessman's hotel than a rapper's paradise. Sure the two-story lobby is lavish and there is a dining room with a Baccarat chandelier and a formal living room overlooking a one-acre koi pond, but overall, this place disappoints. It is listed at an ambitious $18.5 million. After the jump, I'm guessing the fountains are all Tyson's legacy.
UPDATE: This home is still on the market for $14.5 million.

The grounds are breathtaking. By the photographs it is evident the home is not currently resided and is furnished for show purposes only. Cabinets are empty and signs of personal habitation are missing. I would imagine residency would change the overall look and feel of this home. Many areas in the home call out for a personal touch that two token plants do not apply enough on their own to make the home inviting.

HEY RICH ARE YOU STILL THERE DUDE???????
Sandra May 24th 2007 9:13AM
I think the house is awesome. If I hit the lottery, I'd buy it in a heartbeat!
E May 24th 2007 3:33PM
Wow...you people have nothing better to do than hate on a man who has more than you by doing something you couldn't. Find a way to get rich and stop complaining.
Jennifer May 24th 2007 9:05AM
As my mother used to say, "You can't buy class!" Period.
bittch May 24th 2007 9:16AM
So Fitty owns his own hotel. Must be nice, but he earned it and it's his business. You who call him talentless may hoe the same row and buy your own, but, oh that's right, you can't 'cuz you don't have the talent, dumass.
mekafamu May 24th 2007 9:21AM
I have read some of the comments and I find it very funny that people have a problem with 50 buying such a large house. Justin Timberlake, George Clooney, Leonardo Dicaprio(just to name a few) are all single men in entertainment and have extremely large houses. No one has a problem with it. I think people have a misconception with Hip Hop view it and the people involved with it as bad. I honestly believe if this was Brad Pitt's house it would be the best looking thing on the block.
Visionary May 24th 2007 9:34AM
To the person who commented that, (paraphrasing) "50 would not have this home if he had no talent", I beg to differ with you! I have been in the music business for over two decades and I'm telling you that having a record deal and lots of money does not necessarily mean that an individual has talent. I actually know the location of the two inch reel to reel tape that a certain 80's boy band used to lip sync to. These young men, today, are worth more than $100 million each and they never actually sung a NOTE! Not EVER! Money and a record deal DO NOT always equal talent! Anybody remeber when people had to be able to sing well or play an instrument to get a recording contract?
Amanda May 24th 2007 9:32AM
I dont think Henry claimed to "know" anything. And I dont think anyone is "stereotyping" anyone. Get over th whole "stereotype" game, PLEASE!! Nobody said anything about bullet holes in the walls!!! Are YOU stereotyping rappers?????
This house is insanely ostentatious but its still quite beautiful. Sold furnished or not, anyone who can afford the house can afford new decor if thats what they want.
Kisha May 24th 2007 9:39AM
The house is nice. Everyone hating on it can't afford it. 50 is a human just like Garth Brooks or any of the other "white" musicians. He is a businessman. What did you expect? Bullet holes in the walls or pictures of naked women on the wall. The white man hates to see the black man get anything. I wonder what they have to say about LeBron James' house. Hate on that!

The bottom line is, if its Brad Pitt George Clooney or a rapper, many first of all get money for all the wrong reasons, and second, it's absolutely appauling the way the United States throws around money so carelessly with stupid game shows, home make over shows that aim for nothing else but to advertise certain companies, giving billions away to sports athletes who play games for a living. And we wonder why our family structure is crumbling, why there are so many poor people, why we have a deficit, why we as a world power are looked down upon - the United States as a whole (not everybody of course but in general) - idolizes money while not using it for good to help other countries. We cruise in our gas guzzling SUVs and absorb the evening pop culture sledge and crap like american idol and monday night football while our morals and priorities are crumbling away...we complain about our president but actually have no idea what is going on because we're too lazy to educate ourselves... while children in other places are starving or without an education, or where women are beaten and objectified.......but golly, that rapper really did something great for himself look at his mansion - give me a BREAK.
Carole May 24th 2007 9:46AM
Love the house! It is a bit spaceous for my tastes but I could sure give it a try, livin' large like this!! Unfortunately, I am a poor working consultant, traveling the globe, trying to make my living.
More power to 50, that he can sell records and clothes and whatever else he does to make that kind of cash! Seems to me that rappers are setting their sites on more than just recording now days, and getting rich because of it. More power to them!!
Keep on keepin' on!

In case all of you didn't know...this house has a history. It was originally built by a real estate developer in this area. Who wound up ripping off a fair chunk of the local populace (myself not included). -And also wound up in prison; his accountant literally commited suicide. The house is on a dead end street and the town will likely NEVER let it become a B&B. Its smack in the middle of a residential area, and land locked on the other side by a state road and a condo development. (Mike Tyson actually got lost trying to find it AFTER he owned it). -there's a surprise. It has been owned by the original owner,a "foreign shipping magnate", Mr Tyson, and 50Cent. No offense, but if it seems boring,it likely is. The property has been maintained, but obviously lacks a good decorator, and a landscape designer that knows "flowers." Further, no offense to 50...but I doubt he's a flower kind of guy, nor ever will be. He bought it as an investment and that's it. Until someone wealthy enough decides to actually live there, and/ or raise a family there it'll likely stay "hotel-like." I didn't notice a playscape out back w/ Tiny Tikes crap all over the yard either. It is a huge property that has "annual upkeep costs." -Something far beyond your average 1/2 acre lot w/ a white picket fence 2.3 kids and a 3 car garage. That alone would be a deterrent to spending major cash on anything else.
Some day, some "powerball lottery" winner may buy it and actually LIVE there. Until then, it is what it is.
Kenny May 24th 2007 9:47AM
Isn't clear why he bought the house? So he could sell it a few years later for 3 times as much! As a rich guy, you should understand investments...
shonda May 24th 2007 10:00AM
What is the problem. The house is big.It made it all the way to people magazine. Who know's why he is selling the house. If it were Donald Trump or the President would it matter? Rappers paradise huh. What about Paris Hilton's drunk driving she's trying to get out of going to jail, but if it had been 50 everybody would put up such a fuss for him to be going to jail. Is it because he's black man with power that white people can't stand? Stop hating
rainmaker May 24th 2007 9:51AM
white folk crack me up.what, do you think that you have a monopoly on style?if the black man (or any other non white) does not bow down and get some soho sissy to decorate their abode...ITS A TRAVISTY, HONEY!!!get real.if there were scareface and new jack city posters everywhere he would not get a brake.its not the decor you have a problem with, that is just the temporary focal point of your obtuse hatred.the real problem that most of you seem to have is with the fact that a black mans shoe closet is larger than your house.what he does to"stack his chedder" is irrelivant, as is how many times he has been shot and his actual talent level.what is relivant is how you gaze upon this mans goods and think about how it SHOULD be done, what you would change, ect.this man got up off his ass and got his.when will you get up off your (hyper)critical ass and get yours?
Damian May 24th 2007 11:21AM
A rapper's house is supposed to look like sh#t! Come on!? Have any of you seen "Cribs". He needs a couple of stipper poles, a recording studio (because that's all he's good for, and not that great anyways), and 30 cars in the driveway so he can properly flaunt all his money, which he doesn't deserve to have. I'm glad to see he does have an indoor shooting range; maybe he can practice dodging bullets- he hasn't had much luck with that in the past. What a loser!!!!!!!!!!!
heyhey May 24th 2007 11:09AM
who cares? really. It is a beautiful home, and its his, and he can do what he wants with it. None of your comments really matter, my friends.
Roy May 24th 2007 10:51AM
Yeah, I must admit, the person who wrote this article was "hatin" on fiddy. I mean, THAT'S A NICE HOME!!...........I have no doubt that if someone white had owned this home, the comments would have been a lot more glowing. So, just realize peeps that hip-hop artist ("rappers" as white America calls them) are just people too!!!!
aiMEe May 24th 2007 10:22AM
This house is not my taste either. Anywho, I wouldn't mind living in it. I do agree in it being an investment. With the uneven flow in the economy, stars that come into money fast go through it fast. And just like the rest of us, they don't know what to do first. Most were broke in less then a year, after getting famous. Doesn't anyone remember the 80's?? (Sheesh and I wasn't born until 1980!!) Come on people he's got to find away to keep that income coming, music isn't music anymore, it's noise. And we the public aren't dumb, that's way music sales all are at an all time low. Nobody want's to buy crap! He's probably watching out for his and his son's long term financial well being. Because let's face it we keep up finding these no talent a$$clowns, and then make them release a cd with the same hook and 4 line repeats, there will be no money to be made in music. No one will keep buying (No one with a quarter of a BRAIN anyway!!!) the same sh#$.
Hear that 50, I hope your cd comes out with sine depth and a plethora of new words. We aren't falling for the same beat different song or same words through out the entire song deal, anymore. If you didn't do that then you better get into real estate while you got the cash flow!!
Because you might have a good thing going here.
