If you're anything like us, you probably appreciate the convergence of art and science slightly more than the average Joe; there's just something extra appealing about sleek, aesthetically attractive representations of the hyper-complex. We found some of this cool 'DNA Art' a while back from a company called DNA11, but it seems they're finally being challenged from the Brits at DNA ART UK Limited. They'll run your DNA as a graphical interpretation (the method that seems to have been popular in the past), but they'll also etch out every letter of your DNA code into a cube of crystal. A little more unique than that Van Gogh print you've had on your wall since college, eh? Just be careful if you're a wine mogul using your DNA to protect your cellar.New DNA Art from the UK

We're not being challenged. We're being copied which was bound to happen. The funny part is our prices are actually lower and you get a better piece of art not what can only be categorized as a knock-off. The fact that DNA 11 portraits can be found in the MoMA (Museum of Modern Art) says it all. Just to make sure these guys don't get a single sale from this post please enter the code "wallpaper" to get free shipping anywhere in the world. I'm happy to give it to you.
We've been selling our art in the UK for over a year now: http://www.dna11.co.uk

Isn't that a bit of an extreme reaction to a bit of healthy competition?

The Dna11 guys would like everyone to believe they came up with this idea. In fact it was another company that came up with the idea and dna11 copied them.
The fact is we have a fantastic showroom in the UK and the quality of our images are better. I like the DNA11 guys but I wish they wouldn't keep on going on about DNA ART as if noone else has done it before. They are CHEAP thats correct. We are more expensive!........If they want to sell just on price then so be it.
We sell our art in Europe which comes already stretched on a high quality canvas. They sell theirs from Canada and send it rolled in a tube. They charge delivery we do not. We offer a much cleaner/crisper image because of the investment we have made in technology.
By the time you add delivery, stretching on canvas , sending the swab kit back to Canada etc etc then we're not too far away on the price. The main point is that we offer a HIGH QUALITY image.
You can buy anything cheaper in the U.S. That's just the way it is.
They want to monopolise DNA ART. It's never going to happen. They didn't create it, but they will have you believe they did.

Snapping shots of gel electrophoresis always seemed terrifically boring to me. I've been involved in generative art in many mediums since the early 90s and have recently been doing dna ancestry-based images (gallery appearances forthcoming). Check them out at http://www.kitenga.com/gallery.
Why imitate when you can innovate?
