Grand Opulance Sundae at Serendipity in NYC

At Serendipity in New York City, you can rub shoulders with celebrities while enjoying gourmet burgers, chicken and fish. If you still have room for dessert, try the Grand Opulence Sundae. At $1,000, it is considered the most expensive ice cream treat in the world.

How to make this extravagant dessert? Start with 5 scoops of premium vanilla ice cream made from Tahitian Vanilla beans and Madagascar Vanilla and cover them in 23k edible gold leaf. Drizzle the whole affair with the world's most expensive chocolate, Amedei Porceleana and chunks of rare Chuao Chocolate. Then suffuse the sundae with Parisian candied fruit, gold dragets, truffles and Marzipan Cherries. Place a tiny bowl of Grand Passion Caviar on top and serve in a baccarat Harcourt crystal goblet with an 18k gold spoon. For the finishing touch, add a gilded sugar flower by Ron Ben-Israel. What has happened to people? Obviously, these people have no idea of how the middle class (so called now) and the poor live. We have become a country of the very rich and the very poor. Has anyone noticed what happens in a country with this population difference?
Put your thinking caps on. Take a look at history!
I can think of multiple people, charities, hospitals that would love to have just part of that 1,000.00.

WOW! I'm almost afraid to say that I tried it! My philanthropic endeavors should never be questions and every so often I will over indulge...that day I did! Would I do it again? No! Did I enjoy it? Yes. However, if one has the financial net worth to spend $1,000 on a dessert, then why not? I work very hard to be in a position to do so and do not apologize for doing it. I also do a lot of work to feed the homeless and will continue that endeavor. As disgusting as that dessert sounds...don't knock it until you try it!

I have never heard of anything so stupid in my life. Why would anyone in their right mind waste good money on such rubbish is beyond me. I can think of a million good uses this kind of money could be spent on.

I think I saw this sundae presented to Paula Dean by her loving sons. For all the contributions and dedications this gentle and happy entertainer, and true lady has given it was nice to see her enjoy this or a similar sundae. My friend and I work hard at modest paying jobs serving the public. We contribute more than our fair share to ease the suffering of those less fortunate. We have just seen each other through some difficult times. So, we have decided to squirrel our "allowances" and treat ourselves just once to something this royal.

To Johnathan Doen: Dear rich person I am in dire need of a car, a washer/dryer,my rent money($205 a month)and insurance on my trailer.I'm 60,worked all my life,lost it all to Hurricane Ivan in 2004.My income now is appx. $300 a month.But I'm still here and trying harder than ever to survive.Would you like to donate the price of 5 of those nasty sundaes to me??

I had a sundae last night. Vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, caramel and pecans. Shared it with my hubby. Can $1,000 sundae compete with that? Uh, Uh.......don't think so. All it cost was $3.99 and a kiss from my man!!
