Dubai Plans Worlds Largest Shopping Zone
No word on when exactly this massive project will be completed, but as motivated as they seem to be over there to attract tourists I'm sure they're not going to waste any time!

I went to Dubai a couple of weeks ago, and the amount of shopping malls is ALREADY absolutely insane. The ratio of shop/habitant is incredibly high, and even higher if you only account those who can afford all these things (they tend to like the Vuitton and Gucci more than 1$ stores).
With all the real estate bubble growing over there we should be very careful.
They are expecting gazillions of tourists, and the development sure looks like a middle-eastern Vegas... except for the booze and gambling of course.
I'm not yet convinced they will be able to fill all those skyscrapers and compounds with tourists... we'll see.
