The spirits industry, like other industries, is realizing the value of going green. A new eco-friendly vodka has been launched by McCormick Distillery which is, as
Rick Dobbs of Martini Lounge, points out, the company behind the well vodka at many bars and restaurants.
360 vodka is 80 proof and will use an eco-friendly packaging program. The bottle uses 85 percent recycled glass with a unique closure that looks a little like the Grolsch beer bottle. McCormick will also set aside $1 for every closure returned to the "360 Close the Loop Program" to recognized environmental organizations. Also all the packaging and print materials associated with 360 Vodka are produced in an environmentally friendly manner. And as Rick also mentions, not much is mentioned in the press release about the taste. The website reveals that it is quadruple distilled and filtered five times but not if the grain used is organic or what water is used. Also there is no word on price yet.

Oh give me a break. Green vodka ? This "eco-friendly" industry is starting to be more of a farce than good intention, reducing itself to a market catchphrase.

hey, it's something. which is better than nothing. i'd rather buy vodka from a company who at least tries to help the environment than a company who doesn't. so what if it's a marketing ploy, it's called capitalism. Isn't that the beauty of america? we all need to be educated consumers and be able to tell for ourselves which products are an "eco" farce and which are not.

none of the vodka producing companies I know are any less environmental than this particular brand. Its good marketing for the environmentalist, but the overall theme here is really trying to differentiate your brand from the other well known products. So in essence, although their intentions are more than keeping the environment free from contaminants, I am pretty sure their rivals wouldn't be any more polluting than they are.

actually aknod, that is untrue. 360's recycled paper and glass packaging, sustainable energy sources and distillation process, and their "close the loop" recycling program, all beg to differ. they are way ahead of any other vodka when it comes to environmentalism with the exception of perhaps four brands, those being those being square one, reyka, utkins uk 5 & snow leopard. i recently wrote a post on my blog about all of the above if you'd like to check it out it's intoxicatedzodiac.com/blog.
