Stamford, Connecticut, Estate of the Day

Is it possible to fall in love with a house just for the roof? This home in Stamford, Connecticut won me over with the ziggurat-like patterned copper roof which makes for some truly interesting spaces inside. The five-bedroom home was built in 2003 and has over 10,000 square feet of space. The home has a Canadian limestone exterior with unique elliptical reflecting pools with lights and fountain and a heated oval-in-ground pool. The two-story great room with its gigantic fireplace makes a strong impression. The kitchen seems a bit oddly designed with its floating cabinets. It is listed at $3.275 million. After the jump, the huge fireplace which looks like it has never seen a fire.

Spectacular -- I love it. I agree, the kitchen is odd, but I forgive the designer, who gets high marks on everything else.
