The previously-managed Hilton property was partially reopened in February, after extensive renovations, by new managers:
Kempinski Hotels. This 110-year-old establishment (Europe's oldest) has once again worked their magic by completely refurbishing and modernizing the property which, in my opinion as a frequent visitor, was long overdue. The architectural and interior designs at this five-star luxury hotel are now more elegantly modern yet still cozy and inviting. With its warm-wintry-white tones and expansive floor-to-ceiling windows, both the public and private areas seem to capture the beautiful sense of space and natural light which exists from being conveniently located on the Quai du Mont-Blanc, facing Lake Geneva. It is sure to attract some new and exciting clientele with its contemporary feel, as the other luxury hotels in Geneva are quite traditional in comparison. The new design will include the duplex-style
"Geneva Suite" -- one of the largest suites available in the area with its own private spa and gym, not to mention incredible views encompassing the city, the lake, and the Swiss Alps. The second and final opening phase should be complete by end of May which will double the amount of rooms and include new restaurants, a nightclub, and cutting-edge conferencing facilities. So if you hurry, you can take advantage of their "soft-opening" reduced rates and stay in a deluxe lake-facing room with 24-hour room service, plasma-screen TV, high-speed internet, and a small balcony on which to enjoy the fresh mountain air, for approximately USD$523 (CHF 632).

I am sorry but if you are such a "frequent visitor" you should know that the hotel never actually closed even after the fire.
And it was the Noga Hilton which was owned by the Noga family and managed by Hilton. Same as the former Noga Hilton in Cannes (now just Hilton).
So if you are going to post something don't post something you don't know the full story to.

I couldn't agree more with you J. There seems to be an extraordinary amount of sloppy work on this blog of late. I've pulled people up on a couple of posts recently. People that come here expect a hell of a lot more than this. LIFT YOUR GAME GUYS. THIS IS NOWHERE NEAR GOOD ENOUGH. If you are going to report on quality goods and services, the same quality goes for the reporting too.

In response to the first reader's comment made about the hotel article by Jaime.
You just pointed out the obvious, everybody knows that...how many times have you stayed there anyways?

Wake up call for "XY-Z" (J/JW-C)....It's it amazing that people who dis others are afraid of giving their name and copping out with only initials. I guess it is easier for you to critize than actually do the job yourself. You missed the whole point...it is about the experience...not who or which family owned it. Besides, swearing shows your ignorance...and to Jaime, Keep up the great work......Mari.

My daughter & I visited the hotel tonight before going to a show. We were so very disappointed with what has happened there. The décor is awful and the dining room cold with whiny jazz music. We first of all went to the Chinese restaurant at 6.50pm. Our journey there was quite an ordeal because of the sick making pattern in the carpet. A waiter saw us outside the locked door but said nothing. At 7.00pm two more people arrived and at 7.05pm a woman started cleaning the glass in the door. We were amazed and when my daughter tapped on the glass, the woman opened the door and very coldly told they were not open until 7.30pm. There was no sign anywhere of their opening hours. We went back to the other restaurant which used to be so lovely when the Noga Hilton had it. We were asked if we wanted a drink and we asked for wine. Fifteen minutes later after calling a waiter we finally got a drink. The food was fine although when we looked at the menu we were surprised to see that many starters were the same price as the main courses. When we had coffee they forgot the cream and I had to walk to the kitchen door to get someone's attention. Needless to say we didn't leave a tip. The lift signs were totally misleading and when we asked a member of staff about getting to the theatre she said they only had their doors unlocked when there was a show. She was unaware that there was one on that night. The hotel must have had millions spent on it but I for one will find another to visit on my next trip to Geneva.
