Piney Point Village, Estate of the Day

The listing uses the one word that describes this home best: unbelievable. After all, I try to bring you a lavish home every day but sometimes I find one that is truly extraordinary. This is currently the most expensive home in the Houston area and is full of Texas-sized luxury. The home is located in Piney Point Village, one of the most expensive areas in all of Texas. The eight-bedroom home has ornately scrolled columns, marble floors, gilded decorations and so much more. The wine room and bar is big enough to be a small restaurant, the home theater has a screen flanked by Oscar-like statues and the dining room is suitable for entertaining heads of state. It is listed at $19.9 million. After the jump, chandeliers for bed and bath.

Call, me crazy, but when *I* spend $20M on a home, I want at LEAST an acre of land (this is just under).
John Apr 19th 2007 2:13PM
Is this a house or a luxury hotel? It is not homey or endearing like so many other estates listed here before. It is just an enormous building with not much land for the price asked.

I don't care what anyone else says, this home is awesome!

It's not so much lavish as it is pretentious & gaudy. The only nice thing about it is the exterior and even that borders on ostentatious.
Rich Apr 19th 2007 4:06PM
Gawd...whatever happened to "taste"?
Mac Apr 19th 2007 6:55PM
This estate is very well decorated. It may be more ornate than some would prefer, but it is very tasteful. These people weren't going for "homey", these are extremely wealthy people and they were going for "lap of luxury". Well done, I say. It's absolutely gorgeous.

It's like Donald Trump exploded all over this place. Just a hint, more marble and gilding does not make a more fabulous estate. Just gross.

Whatever....it's still in Houston, and Houston is an armpit!
You can keep all of Harris County.

Folks in Texas that own homes like this, have a ranch nearby. Most likely, over a 1000 of those acres. This is a great house.

"Look at me, I'm the most expensive home in the state." Great, but is there any where to curl up with a book? If not -- pass. No matter how much much you have, and no matter how deeply in the lap of luxury you want to live, the eyes still need rest from all that visual noise. Not an ounce of charm or "rest" to be had.

This is why it's good to have a revolution every now and then. America, this is where all your hard work went.
Pretty tacky, too.

this palace just stays under the line between over the top and tacky. the fact that it's parked on less then an acre means other homes may be too close for freedom which will bring that price down.
overall C+

OH DEAR. That is bloody awful. What's the point? No personality, no sophistication, no elegance. Just ostentatious and T-A-C-K-Y.
beanspants Apr 21st 2007 2:07PM
K,
I'm pretty sure there's a chair next to a fireplace for you to sit in and read, the 3rd photo down actually. there's also a really big patio outdoors to read.
i think you are covered, unless you normally read in a fully white walled room while sitting on the floor.

This home is absolutely, completely wonderful. I love the entire look and feel.
Ostentatious and tacky? Nah. This home is all class, built and designed for someone who has the money to do whatever they want.

Pretty nice house belongs to someone I know and someone you heard of.
