Star Island, Estate of the Day

Star Island is one of the most exclusive areas in the Miami Beach area. This small oval artificial island is home to a variety of extravagant estates inhabited by folks such as Shaquille O'Neal. Today's estate is a two-story hacienda with a beautiful slice of waterfront along Biscayne Bay with dockage for a large yacht, a pool area, and large exterior entertaining areas. The home has seven bedrooms and there is also a guest house with three bedrooms. Marble, wrought iron and other luxury surfaces abound. This estate is listed at $19.8 million. After the jump, check out the stained glass in the living room.

Man, that is gross. $19.8 million for *that*?

The back facade is architecturally hideous! Actually, looks like they didn't finish the back.

The could afford this house and not a decorator? The place is furnished with ugly crap! No balance, no scale. Ugh.

Sorry dudes, one of the ugliest estates ever featured on Luxist... Seriously, 19.8million for this place??? We know location is everything, but please!! Tear that down and start all over again.

OH DEAR. That is an absolute mess. Nobody would buy this with the intention of keeping that monstrosity. Many of these decorative pieces are very desirable, but have been put together by what looks like a blind person. Hideous.

looks like K-Fed finally has a place to spend his divorce money. Heck, with a place that ummm "nice" he might woo Britney back.

Quel dommage! What a cantankerous cacophony of crazy crap!
I would, however, roll up that rose Aubusson rug and put that in the car right away. Lovely even in pink.
Then I'd rescue that incongruous, yet adorable $99.99 Franklin Mint English Bulldog (three easy payments of $33.33! plus shipping and handling!) who is so stoically saving us from having to discover what horrors might lurk up the marble staircase.
Any guesses as to who/what is upstairs?

I heard through the grapevine that this is actually owned by Gloria Estefan and family, who live a few houses down. It was purchased in 1978 for $145,000 (!!!!!). It's true value is around $10M, but given that a similar sized lot on the island (empty with no house on it) sold for $7M less than a year ago, I think it's possible that this could get $12-15M.
But definitely not gonna fetch the $20M average for a REAL Star Island mansion. Sorry Gloria! Yucky.
