Vallejo Deluxe, Estate of the Day

We are back on Vallejo Street in San Francisco (see a previous estate there here) to check out another gorgeous mansion. This home was build in 1919 by architect Clarence Tantau for Benjamin F. Schlesinger a prosperous department store owner. The current owner, Cinthia Coletti Haan is only the fourth owner of 2090 Vallejo in 88 years and she spent many years restoring this home to its former glory adding gilding, murals and more to complement the grand space.The home has six bedrooms and grand public rooms such as a formal dining room, living room, , library, a recreation room with a wet bar, billiard table, fireplace and lounging banquette. The eat-in gourmet kitchen has a butler's pantry, three sinks, granite counters and hardwood floors. There is also a wine cellar, fur storage, and a three-car garage. It is listed at $16.25 million. Though awfully gawdy, that house is just rich in character and really feels like its of a different era. Cool stuff. I think it's funny though that apparently they have a view of the golden gate bridge, but they still need a mural of it. Why look at a picture when the real thing is right there?

I agree! The further down I scrolled, the worse it got, and the mural? Beyond awful.

I thought the house has nice lines, but who decorated that thing. It is awful. It looks like some rich snob with no taste and no knowledge of decorating do-nots had a mental breakdown and just threw stuff in there. Terrible.
